Most kites I've flown will do that when they're so overpowered something has to give. That usually happens as I swing it for a boost though, not mid-boost, or if I'm cruising along happily overpowered and then a gust takes it to the next level of stupidly overpowered. Could be a combination of pressure and overpoweredness, ie there's enough pressure for a stable wing at normal power but not at overpower.

Yes I am too fat...

You need to get the additional noseline that North Distributed through all dealers that fixes the problem and stabilises the middle of the canopy when under excessive load. See the dealer you bought it from.

thats handy for when your session is over you just boost into the car land in your car pop the boot and hopefully your kite that has folded up into a ball lands in your boot!

bending, folding has been a standard feature with the rebel kites for the last 3 years

Yup, has happened to me and a mate of mine with a 9m and 7m. I'm 70 kgs. The recommended pressure is not enough, I've been pumping it up very hard and it seems to have stabilized.

From what I have found its usually the leading egde hasnt got enough air in it , low pressure and lots of wind or boosting a jump = kite folding in half , it will do it every time . makes for an exciting jump or high wind experience usually

Hi Guys,

As Benk has mentioned there is a noseline extension piece which will resolve the issues. It does seem to be more prone to heavier riders and also attributed to line trim and leading edge pressure.

Easiest sort is to just call up your local North dealer and ask for the nose line extension kit. Problem solved!

Cheers,

KH

two people i kite with have 09 rebels and there kites use to do the same thing when they pumped it up to 6 psi (which is the recommended psi) but since they started pumping it up to 9 psi it has never folded again and they have taken them out in up to 35 knts.

good winds,
lucas
