Yesterday I was laxing on a boat in Geordie Bay at Rotto and low & behold 2 kiters came past the bay about 3 km's north of the island in line with the bay!
Who were you? Hope you had a boat with you cause that's crazy out that far without support in a SW!!
There's an old guy from trigg who often kites from Freo to Rotto, gets wasted at the pub and then kites home. Sounds like he has a friend these days.
Kiters when offshore, are classed along with kayaks & general paddlers. i.e. non registered vessel

With a recent exemptions allowed for kayaks/kiters to use a PDF type 2 instead of type 1 www.mandurahpaddlingclub.org.au/index_htm_files/Regulation%20Exemption.pdf
Perth also has a EPRIB expect area for kayaks/kiters (see page 5) this I've heard rumors is soon to change
Yeah, Sometimes kite to Rotto, only if its maxing around 25knots, SSW.
I grab a beer and a Quokka, and then head home.
There pritty easy to catch and they fit nicely into my backpack where I keep my EPIRB.
