Check out this bonehead kiting. Now miami beach is stuffed. Problem is I see this kind of behaviour all the time at leighton, Melville, and other areas. Seen some pretty proactive stuff from the older locals at woodies, but many other areas people wont or cant be bothered saying anything. What would you do, after a chat, when he does it again?

a) cut his lines.
b) deflate his kite.
c) wait till he falls off, grab his board and sail it 2k's out to sea.
d) complain on a forum....

Cabs and trees.. SS and orshools

See it all the time - albeit with less crowds (and it is often other kiters they are pulling that sh!t next too) but that last 3 inches of water is irrestable to an orshool. Not unique to SS by any means but they do seem over-represented.

I like the "hop-skipperty-jump" just before the first kiteloop. "Look at me! Look at me!"

But when I say I see it all the time I get red thumbs and told off for daring to voice an opinion, as I windsurf. Interesting.........

Hey did anyone notice that unattended windsurfing rig menacing the water close to the shoreline where those awesome riders were smashin out their loops. Very dangerous, someone could have crashed a failed trick attempt and hit their head on that. (insert sarcasm emoticon thingy here)

If there is one thing I cannot stand its intolerance.
I think everyone guilty of intolerance should be summarily executed by the free thinkers of this world.

Lets rid the world of intolerance.
And lets start with those who insist on walking on beaches where kiters are quietly working away on personal self improvement goals.

Personally I would feel quite intimidated having people walking that close to my kite zone!

I think its an unfortunately side effect of having Lenton wannabe's. There are two groups of Fuel riders.

1. The legitimately good riders who compete and want a high performance kite to match their skill
2. The lenton wannabe show off's who will try loop on the beach in front of crowds because they think that people want to watch them and every woman will be wilting at her knees waiting to give them their telephone number when they get off the beach.

On the cabrinha front, you get two groups of cabrinha's riders:

1. Those that ride their kites into trees because they don't know any better
2. Those that ride their kites into trees because they should know better

Cabrinha is the only brand I know that needs to make biodegradable kites so their kites don't cause long term impact to the environment by staying in the trees for too long.

3. The straight out tools that are encouraged by 'SS culture' and to some extent marketing.

Then there's riders like me who ride budget gear, wear too many accessories (helmet, vest, sunnys, spare jocks, hanky) know they have limited skillz on tap, know they are gonna fek up sooner rather than later and so just try to stay outta harms/trees/punters/poleys/dogs/grannys/houses/cars/Cab/SS owners way.

....and I can't brush aside the thought, that this thread comes so handy for the anti-kiter lobbiers....these are the photos, videos, and posts they like to see, read and possibly collect, and at the right moment present them to the councils....
....as a kiter I am still looking for any value of this thread and video......
....I would rather value simply preventing these from happening on our beaches at the time when they are about to happen rather than talking about them....

I am pretty new to the sport as well, and I know I should stay far away from other kiters, people, Spirit of Tasmania etc... but I have been in sports long enough to know that it is not the brand that does the idiotic stuff, it is the rider(person), whether you ride Cabrinha, Fuel or whatever, therefore why criticise the brand?

It seems the fact that I ride a Cabrinha immediately classifies me as the same idiot as some of these guys are?? 10 000 miles from the truth!!

Just a light dig there Teron. As has been mentioned before SS and Cab are 2 of the biggest sellers so you get more nongs on em by virtue of shear numbers.

Weirdly the orshools and tree attraction does seem over-represented (IMHO) but as you say it is not a set in stone thing.

Andrash you are right to some extent, but the aim of this thread is to wise up other kiters to ensure the above behaviour doesn't actually occur in oiur localities to fuel the anti kiter league (AKL) to go looking for these sorts of things. A fine line I spose.

Its all a conspiracy, don't worry. cabrinha and slingshot riders don't fly near people on the beaches, they're just such awesome kites that the beachgoers flock to wherever they are flying and cramp the poor riders.

I once witnessed 360 people follow 3 Cabrinha riders from st kilda to brighton when the wind switched from southerly to northerly just so they could watch the pretty colours. One woman actually left her baby at St Kilda because she was so mesmerised by the hypnotic glow of the kites. They didn't even bother to drive their cars, they walked the entire way so they could watch.

Disclaimer - The above story was given to me by a Cabrinha rider

Lets put it this way. How well did brushing it under the carpet work for the catholic church?

Sooner or later the **** gets found out and by sweeping it under the carpet its seen as not making any attempts within the community to rectify the situation.

We can all sit around and pretend it doesn't happen, but we all know it does.

You did not read my post quite to the end....I was suggesting to prevent irresponsible behaviour where it happens: AT THE BEACH......rather than air it on a forum.....so not brushing under the carpet at all........acting and not talking...

Maybe I'll let this bozo (TOP) have a go

I'd be getting a new avatar pic so people dont think your a chic too, unless thats the plan.

Mate, you are here for the wrong reason: it is not a dating site, so one's gender may not matter so much.....I chose my avatar for its symbolism.....
....but just to confuse you a little more: I am a lesbian woman hiding in a male body....
