I was having a session in the surf the other day riding suicide mode and dropped my kite in the surf ,before i could relaunch the kite a wave took it. So then it started to pull me under the water so i released my QR at the chicken loop because i was riding suicide i was still being pulled under so as i reached for the QR on the leash, I felt something let go, My first thought was that my kite had just ripped in half i was spewing . Swan into shore grabbed my kite and it was all good no rips or blow outs .my lines were leading into the water so i started to pull them in and there was no bar and leash at the end of the lines .After looking at the kite and the 3 lines i had left i saw that 2 lines broke at the pulleys (2in1 bar) one line broke at the kite the other at the centre line adjustment strap. my bar ,leash and 1 line are some were in the pacific ocean . I use that one bar between 3 kites not happy !
new lines are way cheaper than a kite smashed to bits.
Wish the lines snapped on my kite before I got dragged and destroyed my kite beyond repair.
All I can say is that would never happen with the new "StabBar" ...
The new StabBar is endurance tested to be used on 3 kites at once......
... did a down loop gybe in 30 knots on a 14m, and while it shot across the wind window I dug my edge in reeeeeally hard and the kite sort of collapsed at the dead down wind point, then bang, I snapped both steering lines. My missus was not happy with me. Cause the wind picked up and it got too much I took her kite out and just as I took off she yelled at me, 'don't mess up my lines'. Oh dear I did one better and snapped 'em! They were brand new too!!!! Guess what she got for Christmas that year????? She wasn't impressed by the way at my brut strength, called me 'idiot', I think!!
