Today firsttime I took surf lesson, no wind forwhile get boring and boring. So drag my self into new water sports. Was fun but hard not easy.
After lesson bought 7foot surfboard. Can I use this board for kitesurfing as well?
Will catch this Goldy big wave before end of this winter![]()
no way,
seven foot is too long....
six eleven is about the max you can use with a kite otherwise you risk serious injury to yourself and others...
it's just not worth the risk man
7 foot surfboard will be sweet. I assume it is wide (most 7 foot learning boards are!) which will be great to learn to gybe (gibe?) on. And when you get the hang of both you can simply downsize.
if its a cheapy surfboard then kite on it. if you paid over $500 id say dont kite on it. you will be better off learning on a cheap board that your not gonna be spewing every time you put a ding in it from your harness or something. Or worse you snap it becuase its not built for the constant riding
summory
I can ride 7foot surfboard but can be dangerous sometimes so take extra care.
Paid 390$ for this board brand name sideways so, surfboard is not designed for constant riding like twintip board. Give some break time to board to keep shape.
Once get better can down the board size.
Thank you all. When can I have wind then? ![]()
If your on the Goldy or Sunny coast, maybe October unless you like to kite gusty West crap. But you may snag the odd day by being in the right place at the right time.
Suffing in Autumn / Winter is good to keep up the fitness and generally nice clean waves - like the last week!
Definitely do-able, i went out on my 7'2" minimal on a light day in small chop this season just for a suck-and-see and it was quite good fun, very slow though and i ended up more towards the centre of the board 'cos much harder to keep the nose down - not worth repeating except for novelty value though...
Here's a clip from years ago. 7'8" mini-mal. Still have it, and like using it with small waves/light wind - you get more power from the wave than the wind. Harder to ride than a small board though in my opinion, and a bit tricky to gybe. You can get your feet switched easily, but the board doesn't want to turn unless you're up the back!
