Has any one flown it in gusty winds? I cant find anything in any of the forums. I have the 7m, 9m and 11m Edge. I love the 9, and 11, but the 7 is like a bucking bronco in gusty winds. It constantly falls back into the window and then snaps forward so hard it hurts your arms. I thought it was me but another lad went out on it and it was doing the same. It does not make sense when the 9m and 11m handle the gusts so well.
Put it like this, the last time I was out, I was edging hard and a gust hit and I simply fell backwards into the water, the kite lost all power and the lines went slack, then it snapped forward to the edge of the window and near wrenched my arms out of their sockets.
The only thing that I can think of is there was human error when this one was being built or ???????????
Thanks
Patrick
Check with your dealer, I think there was a recall/mod that was meant to be done to the bridle on those kites.
It required adding a 10-12cm link to the centre attachment point of the bridle on the LE and then attaching the bridle legs to that.
In the meantime I'll see if I can find some more info for you.
Hey Rob was good to catch up in my home spot sorry that mother nature didn't play ball u should try and get back up here the wknd is looking epic ill check with a mate what the go is with the edge 7 he's high up the ladder at ozone with vast knowledge on all the ozone ranges I'm interested myself as I'm gonna order my quiver of 7 9 11 edges 2012 I'm amazed to hear they are a bigger boosting than my 2010 s c u again ride safe
I stripped the bridals down of the 11 and the 9 and measured them and reckoned if the 7 is the same kite the bridal lines should decrease in equal percentages. The attachment points to the leading edge did as I thought all the same but the 7m first attachment point was 1 cm closer to the centre and bridal was totally different. So I sewed a bridal up myself according to what difference was between the 11 and the 9. When we took it out and fluid there was a great improvement but there was still a bit of dropping back not as bad. This is why I think there may be a mistake somewhere in this kite. I have heard no other complaints anywhere on the web so I believe this is a one-off human error.
I could not find any reviews of the 7m 2011 edge anywhere or anyone who has flown one ,so I take it if there is no news that is good news.
The dealer is replacing the kite for me he is off the same opinion human error, we wouldn't be human if we got it right all the time. The 9 and they 11 are brilliant kites, very friendly, stable and really good fun to be out on. So I wouldn't hold off buying them I think this one is the black sheep of the family. I am quite happy for the dealer to replace this 7 with another 7 edge.
As I say 2 metres smaller cannot make that much of a difference. The difference is like between a Ferrari and a bad tempered donkey and cart.
hi rob ive emailed you the info from chris on the 7 edge,if you can post it to the topic so all can read, i tried but im a bit of a retard on the pc. cheers mick
Thanks lads,
I like the edge for boosting. I'm 48 so there is nothing fancy in these old bones except trying to fly
So Ill stay with the edge, it definitely gets me up there better than any other kite I have tried…..![]()
