Two weeks ago I had what can only be described as a **** up of a water pack down after trying to help someone out who was in it big time, the end to a story full of screw ups ended up with their kite tangled all over mine and caught on some reef.
I was amazed when I finally retrieved the kite to see that it had not a mark on it, so I packed it all down, spent an hour untangling her bar from mine then went home and totally forgot about it (kind of)..
The problem starts when I next use the kite and its flying like a pig, its seriously biased to one side, so much so that I have to put it down and spend a seriously good session trying to work it out on the beach..
So the kite was turning much faster to the right, The first thing I checked was the line lengths assuming maybe they had been stretched in the tangle, nothing there and the kite also flies exactly the same on another bar, s that was ruled out, I then measured the bridle and it matched to the millimetre so the problems not there.
Today I went to the beach to try it again and it still flew like crap, I deflated it. had another look, found nothing visibly wrong so decided to pump it up for one more fly. On the first pump action I heard a big pop and the bladder ripped. Now Im really going crazy, could this just be a coincidence or could a twisted bladder have been causing the kite to fly badly, If it had burst on the first go after the messy pack down I would have been sure of it, but Ive had the kite inflated hard at least twice since. Ive fixed the bladder and am going to give it another go tommorrow to see if its the same..I Was just wondering if anyone else has had a kite flying funny because of the bladder being twisted...I guess I really hop it was the bladder otherwise Im back to square one...

Check out where she parks her Broom and nick off with it.... at least it will fly both directions

What kite was it and did you get any water in it - during the pack down ???

I could go with that one, would explain why I cant find the problem..... No water in kite, Ive just finished fixing the bladder and its dry and sand free....

Hmmmm.. Tgcp

So 1. the kite flew fine before the hook up with the chick (my kite never flies the same after that these days!!)
2. big tangle or just a sort of bugger moment? - you mention reef etc - not nice !!
3. Bridal's all checked out? - seems so
4. Kites are flying machines and are aerodynamically designed - so if some chick plays with your carma - and warps your machine WTF ??

Witches aside - I'm surprised that your kite is miss behaving - I recently dropped a kite in the surf and it hot launched only to break the bar and the front line swivel - and cheacked the lines and afterthe carnage its still OK - still all my fault!!

I'm scratching to sort out ur problem!!

Cheers for all the input, must have been the twisted bladder, I fixed it last night and just got back from a sweet session and it flew fine.. Something to bear in mind for the future, before the blow out the kite was pumping normally and was rock hard with no deform of shape, would have been none the wiser if it hadn't popped....stoked that it is fixed, was ****ting it about my 6 being out of action :-)

Hey tgcp Ive had the same probs in the passed with a kite flying with a bias did all the obvious checks same as you mentioned and it self righted after 2 sessions (crap sessions) , and now you,ve highlighted your prob.It most likely was the bladder for me also , dropped mine the head high swell and got dragged 50m through water. So mate makes great sense to me , Will learn from this in future , many thanks , Jeff
