I noticed this little gem in this weekend's Sydney paper - note the state of the art equipment being used by the rider

Maybe that was the closes image to that claim of kiteboarding dating back to the 13th century when it was a simple mode of transport??? Who does their research

Yeah that was in the paper here in Adelaide on Sunday as well. Had a bit of a laugh when i saw the pic. Otherwise good article and puts kiting in a positive light which is great to c.

Ive spoken to a few people, that this idea would be great for lightwind playing & a huge market for the future or winter - only to fall on deaf ears

Well my main man Mito Monteiro from F-One was out testing their new 2 line fun machine - when then wind drops completely just roll up n paddle back... they must have more imagination than others I guess huh !

The most interesting new product from F-One this year is the new Source, which is a 2-line kite that will have no depower. The Source is meant to be used in light wind while kiting on SUP or other large boards and we are very interested to see how well it is received.

You could kite every day with that setup. Probably more for people that enjoy being on the water, that don't care if there paddling kiteing or whatever. I would give it a go on my SUP. Perfect for those hot days at the beach when the SB doesn't kick in hard.

I wonder how many people still have there old 2 liners and stonker boards

Save the whales - that Source kite is a completely stupid idea and will lead to people getting lofted and killed again.
The kite has no depower as you say, no emergency release on the main loop, and I think it even comes with a completely stupid wrist leash.
Lets just call it what it is - STUPID.

Thats what its falling deaf ears mate its a kook idea. SUPS are for paddling or catching waves its just an idea from marketing men with $$ for eyes

Everyone that has tried the Source is very enthusiastic about it. With FOne also making SUP boards to get the full benefits from the kite it is hard to knock. With light bar pressure most people will never hook in to the loop and if the wind picks up its not hard to drop the bar pack the kite away and paddle pack in.

The kite wasn't developed as a way to make a million dollars, it came about due to the lack of wind they had. Who knows this season we may not have a lot of wind, there are a lot of kiters that already have sup's so will have to wait and see if they become popular.

I know that the future is a scary place for narrow-minded people, in a sport that is developing and splitting in many different directions. But it is going to be ok, you can still ride the way you want, and can choose to try different aspects of the sport as they develop if you choose but know one is forcing you to. But give it a try before you knock it.

I dunno, I reckon a 2 line kite would be an interesting beast if for no other reason than nostalgia

Looks like Chris Calthorpe. He rode Flexi Blades back in the day I think.

Been thinking about resurrecting my 2 liner for a flash back. Anyone have an old bridle for a Naish 7m AR3.5? or measurements?

Terry McTrawlTool : what is more dangerous? A kite with no depower that the rider respects and is cautious about of a kite with "100% depower" that the rider believes can be safely ridden in winds well above its safe range?
