Hi All,

Is their a generally reliable 'system' anyone can use to predict wind speeds at the Tweed from synoptic maps & forecasts or any other meteorology?

I read in a post some weeks back about the best synoptic chart for Cairns at this time of year and it looks to be holding true.

It said that a high over the Bight led to epic winds in that part of the world and that their strength would be in correlation to the numerical strength of the high. Ie,
1026 high over the Bight = 26 kts in Cairns, 1018 = 18 kts etc.

Looking at the current maps and forecasts, and the ones from the last few weeks,

this looks to be a good to go system for those lucky folk up Cairns way.

Any specific weather patterns we should be looking out for in this part of the world?

Cheers
