Adobe Premiere Pro is about as good as it gets, and is what i use for my editing.
Final Cut Pro would be the option if you were a Mac-head.

Adobe premier is good for cutting and editing clips and some effects, but if your just editing to make it look better and do after imaging after effects would suit you better, also there a ton of plug ins you can use

if you're a beginner to editing then avoid premier pro, its too difficult for a novice. Try Premier Elements which is a lighter version.

your kidding right!? that app is....
if i so much as mention that app i would be killed!!
a friend o mine does this for a living and treats those home editors like the plague.

if your gonna learn a new app learn something decent

I agree with that, cus then you can more easily move to the more advance editing later

On mac Final cut pro is definitely your best bet.

I have tried a few and can never get it going.
Too complex for me.
Now I use Windows movie maker, it is already on your pc, it is free,it is simple.
Can't go wrong.
Definately not very advance but you can just drag and drop, music, pictures, add effects...

Yep,,agreed.Windows movie maker is as simple as a kiteboarder
You can do all the cut and chopping with it then use something more powerfull to add advanced effets and give it the more professional touches, slow mo or what ever.
