Does this mean limited sessions with my best mate now that his mrs is having a baby. Or is there still time for kiting after a newborn?
He's going to be a changed man... Seeing your missus have a baby is like standing across the street from your favourite pub and watching it burn down
From experience. One baby won't have a huge impact if it's healthy etc and she's a decent mother. Two kids things go south. Admittedly I was kiting when my wife went into la out with second but two weeks in she had the whole sit down and talk session. Just come off a four hour session and both babies were on the wAr path. Depends on your mates ability to communicate what is needed. My wife knows if kiting doesn't hAppen then a bear with a sore head.
Let ya mate know that when the wind is not blowing then it's kid hands on time. Build the gratis points up let her go out and have that seemingly important coffee with a friend. When their is no wind I'm daddy of the Darwin yeAr when not then all bets are off.
Kids now a little older 3 and 4 and it gets much easier. Let my wife go just go on a 6 day Aussies open melbounrne tour with her lady friends. Gratis points big time to cash in!!!
In summAry lay down the conditions eArly And yeh the 4 hour downwinder is not a given but a couple hours here and there plus an occasional kite trip with ya mates is fine. Ones fine two is trouble three forget it until you get the kids hooked as well!! Met a bloke with 7 and he gets out.
My mate got a phone call while we were at the pub, from his misses, saying her water just broke and she is heading to the hospital, please get here as soon as you can.
He told us, and we all cheered and congradulated him and bought him a beer,
and another beer,
and another beer, "I gotta go after this one"
and another beer, "I gotta drink this quick and get a cab to the hospital"
and a couple of shots later,,,,,,where did he go,,,,,must have got a cab to the hospital??????
While his wife was giving birth, he was passed out in the garden out front of the pub.![]()

more to the point, what type of gear does he ride, is it fairly new and will he let you take it all down to the beach to "dust of the spiderwebs" for him?
Ha nah he rides eclipse gear same size as mine. definately THEY are having a baby should be due in the next few days right in peak season..![]()
baby bonus = new kites .Plus with the new federal maternity leave they can both have quality time together with the new bub at the beach .
Despite the fact that I hadn't been OS for 8 yrs I happily sent my wife to Bali with her sister 2 yrs in a row (08+09) and looked after the 2 squids.
When I am Scott Nomates she picks me up after a downwinder. She hates wind. I hate Bali - speshly with her sis. Everyone's happy.
Sheesh London - that a true story? Your mate deserves to be grounded and you a baaaaaaad.
Get him a subscription to help pass the time.
hes screwed but weekends will be ok, maybe. depends on how his mrs copes. learn to self launch/land mate
Hey SP,
Tell ya mate to sell all his gear. It will be more painful owning and not using it, than not having it at all. ![]()
Commiserations!

I kite all the time with a eight month old. Well, not with him, he is usually at home... No but seriously, all depends on the relationship and the baby. It does help living a block from the beach. Often, my woman gets out on the training kite and I take the little one one in the backpack when the wind it light. ;-) Just getting ready for when when he gets older and family vacation with kiting parents.
25 years,,,,,,,,,he wishes.
Its a life sentence,,,,,,,,,,,,wait,,,,,,,,,,,,,thats called "getting married"![]()
