Need a new stick for the winter and wouldn't mind getting a board I can also kite on come next season. Have had a look over some of the Naish and North boards and swinging towards the North Whip X-Surf, did have a look at the BWS boards but would want something I can jump. I currently ride a Kontact 5' 10" for big days and a 5' 8" WAM for higher wind.

Any suggestions? ideally would sit around 5' 10" / 5' 11" as an everyday go to surf/travel board.

Surely a custom from a local shaper is the go. I have been talking to Steve Del Rosso about a 5'9 ish with some reinforcement on the deck. Plenty of local shapers employing all kids of construction materials - Stone, Katana, Delta.

I have a BWS drifter and it's a great board. I punt it all the time, but no big strapped airs. Not all that light though, probably a Mulcoy would be lighter.

Impressive reply's I've given up on the "One" Board just cant get it right always seems a compromise.
I dont need inserts but the volume and construction differences IMO needed between a surf board and a kite board has nearly done my head in.
Got used to the two board travel quiver.

As above, go and chat to your local shaper.
Any paddle surfboard just glassed heavier with 2x 6oz deck 1x 6oz bottom is going to kill one of those mass produced North style boards as a paddle/kite combo.
Probably cheaper too. And can be boosted, strapless of coarse (wouldnt do it strapped!)
ohhhh, and don't look past the BWS range of boards. Proven designs that work paddle surfing too.
My comments are in regards to strapless riding, never ridden with straps before.

i been struggling with this for years wanting one board to travel with, not really easy at all as I always like a smaller board for kiting.
