Need a new stick for the winter and wouldn't mind getting a board I can also kite on come next season. Have had a look over some of the Naish and North boards and swinging towards the North Whip X-Surf, did have a look at the BWS boards but would want something I can jump. I currently ride a Kontact 5' 10" for big days and a 5' 8" WAM for higher wind.
Any suggestions? ideally would sit around 5' 10" / 5' 11" as an everyday go to surf/travel board.
Surely a custom from a local shaper is the go. I have been talking to Steve Del Rosso about a 5'9 ish with some reinforcement on the deck. Plenty of local shapers employing all kids of construction materials - Stone, Katana, Delta.
I have a BWS drifter and it's a great board. I punt it all the time, but no big strapped airs. Not all that light though, probably a Mulcoy would be lighter.
Impressive reply's I've given up on the "One" Board just cant get it right always seems a compromise.
I dont need inserts but the volume and construction differences IMO needed between a surf board and a kite board has nearly done my head in.
Got used to the two board travel quiver.
i been struggling with this for years wanting one board to travel with, not really easy at all as I always like a smaller board for kiting.
I have two kitesurf boards which i can surf on and kite and( jump with straps on) 5'7" x18"5/8 x2"2/8 and 6'x18" 2/8 x2" 2/8 both are aprox 2.4klg and use unstrapped i am, 76-78klg and 54yrs But my main brd is 5'5" X 17" X2" strapped due 80% of the time i am riding chopy s##t. Note they are custom brds from local surf board shaper So as above i also take two brds and you should try wa shaper like Delta &others
