so I have rocked into town today- no gear yet but will be here soon, any of the local crew who are keen to show the welcome mat to a sunday punter who froths over kiting shoot me a pm.
Love waves and waves.
Cheers
I'll be relocating back down there after many years in the wilds of the north.
I expect a bit of Kiting in the estuary (although the best launch zone is yet to be decided. )
Back in the day (before kitng was invented- Yes I am that old) sailing (windsurfing) from the boat ramp area behind the servo was the go. Im not sure about all the trees there though. Ive seen a couple of Kiters on the southern side of the Groyne (that used to have a pipeline from the factory) that goes about half way across the estuary...
Other than going down south Im not expecting too much..
I'm Hoping binningup might be ok for an attempt at a wave kiting.
LB r u relocating permanently or just holidaying?
I am here for a couple of years at least- got a job lined up and misses and I are looking around for a house at the moment. Keen to come take some pics while I wait for my gear to rock up next Monday if anyone clues me in on where it's at.
Cheers
Geoff
Lots of kiters ride up there near the BP servo.
Binningup is a nice location for ocean kiting, and a few guys get out there at BP beach too
just fyi the bp servo is on the north side of bunbury in australind. if you follow the estuary road you cant miss it. the launch area used to be the big patch of grass past the playground but its been a while since i was there and they have erected a small fence around the perimeter so ask if you need to. just be careful of runners and the trees
also the estuary never gets very deep so be careful where you tread as there are rays, crabs and cobbler everywhere
as for ocean/wave riding theres not much selection close by unless you have a 4wd and some imagination. i wont give away some spots for obvious reasons but im sure if you do a bit of exploring you can find most of them yourself
bp beach near the centre of town can sometimes be good and so can belvidere beach but thats a longer drive to get to and to be honest i wouldnt trust leaving my car in the park with any valuables in it
otherwise plan a trip to yal or margs only an hour or so away. there are some great gems to find not far away so i'd recommend taking the time to scour out some off the track spots
cheers
HAAK- thanks for the best wishes, if you ever come over there is a bed here for you
Thanks for the response Rick.
Edward- I do have a 4wd, keen to go exploring- shoot me a pm if you are down this way and keen for a session.
BTW- what the hell is a cobbler ?
