Those black floats on the leader lines as shown in the above pic ... ^^^
Do they serve any other purpose other than preventing the kitebar from sinking ?
Just curious.

Dunno, maybe helps keep the deathleash from getting tangled around the bar.

Water relaunching when you grab one line? Not all bar floats actually make the bar float in my experience, though the fatter slingshot ones on my current bar seem to.

they stop the lines wrapping around the bar ends

What they said.

Also stops you from getting bare leader line across your knuckles when you have the bar at full lock.

Maybe kitebars should be made to be buoyant,
so those stupid floats can be discarded.

SUP paddles float, don't they ?

i test flew a wainman when they first came out, and the chicken loop itself had a foam filled pouch that floated to the surface, so you could quickly find the loop when you dropped the bar

i dont get the point of them. if u drop the bar u arent going to lose it anyway. last time i checked u usually connect your lines (and bar) to ur kite (which floats)

If you have a runaway kite at sea,
(like your death-leash snapped or something),
a buoyant bar would theoretically skip across the surface as it's being pulled along by the kite,
rather than being dragged along the seabed and snagging itself on submerged reef.

you had to mention the death leash
I agree though the more flotation ( or less weight) the better

That makes sense....
1. stop lines wrapping around bar ends
2. aid floatation
3. something to grab onto rather than leader line when relaunching

Why do I somehow feel like i am giving 'slave ammo he will use later [}:)]

Why would the leash be attatched to the outside flying line? This seems to be asking for trouble. Is this a current model in the photo?

Thought this was going to be about someone kicking off a pub on a barge to pick up a beer while you ride by...what a horrible disappointment.
