I know it is still too early to make a call but Sunday does not look so good to me

It looks like pushing it back to Monday and holding it at Leighton might be a better call if the wind does what it is forecast to do.

What does everyone else think?

Looks OK to me at this stage, moving to Monday everyone has work etc. I reckon the pond will be OK if wind comes in to 12 to 15knots as expected and will probably be 15 knots. I reckon wait to Sat arvo to see how it goes, I'm gonna go down even if its 10 knots ....

I kite south Beach South Freo alot and the wind is same direction as pond and is the best most steady wind in Perth area, fab for racing from 10 to 15 knots even on a 12m kite.

Forcast Sunday: S/SW winds 10/15 knots tending variable to 8 knots inshore. Windstending S/SW 18/23 knots throughout in the afternoon.

Forcast looking OK to good for Sunday - Kited at south beach last ( same wind direction & knots as Safety bay ) night around 5pm and I was lite on my 15m kite , Sean M was perfectly powered on his 13m.

South Beach = Terrible place to kite. shifty unreliable winds and loads of dog poo on the beach. Woodies is much better.

You do realize we are talking about course racing and not a freestyle event??

Change venue on Sunday CR racing to South Beach South Freo near high rise apartments on beach, easy to find, see flags, rego 1pm, should be good racing, Airrush boyz have new bouys so we easy see marks. Location for CR racing is perfect as wind straight over ocean from woodies 7km away. Very safe location wind blows side onshore so all kiters end up at beach.

From the WAKSA mail out

It's on again this Sunday afternoon!!

South Beach, South Fremantle is the venue for what looks like the best wind this week.

With demo boards courtesy of Airush, first timer or serious competitor, everyone's welcome to join in the WAKSA Airush Course Racing Series.

Look out for the WAKSA flags this Sunday afternoon, on the beach near the southern carpark on Ocean Drive, South Fremantle.

Briefing at 1.00pm, first heats commence once the wind is above 15knots.

Hope to see lots of you there.

damn, damn damn. Not only can I not make it to yet another course racing event but you are going to make my local sport busy. I loved the fact that often I would be the only person out here. :(

Must be in the wrong spot. In the carpark right by the dogbeach and cafe and cannot see anything kite related

Bit of a late start with the wind and crowds, but got the timing perfect and ran 3 awesome races, classic triangle course and some very close heats! Brilliant day guys, cheers to Airush, WAKSA and everyone for making it happen!

hmmm, had the marquee up by 2, on the on the south beach dog beach section, just south of the groin in front of the cafe. Pretty much directly in front of the three high rise residential buildings.

Hi All,
Finally we can say we've held our first successful course race series today for 2011-2012. The wind was perfect and on schedule at South Beach with 15-18knts. There were about 10 entrants and good to see a few girl's in the fleet.
Thanks to Ian Gross and Damo of Airborne Kitesurfing for supplying six Airush Sector One Design course boards and Juddy El Presedent of WAKSA for bringing the shade and more importantly, the Esky, with an assortment of cold drinks ahhh.
It was good to see new faces at the event.

For those who are interested to race regularly after work, I've setup a google group email address to let keen sailors know about where and when we will be racing, either Melville or South Beach. All last week at South beach there was a consistent 10-15knt southerly breeze, ideal course board saling. If you are interested send me an email and I'll invite you to the Group - [email protected]

See you all at the next Airborne/WAKSA race series or causal racing at the river or South Beach.
