Im off to Cairns for a week, next week. Is it worth kiting at the moment? If so where?

There's plenty of threads Cairns to Pt Douglas to search, but nah, it's not worth kiting at the moment. Golf is much better this time of year.

I hear that there are a lot of disappointed people up in Cairns at present.

The forecast is certainly not the reality, and there are people sitting on the beach looking out to sea for white caps that don't arrive!

I'd be heading to C. Flattery with Ant. It's been good from all reports.

As usual the forecast is good but the stark reality is its anything but....

Blowing Pt Douglas and further north but Yorkeys has been terrible. Just had 4 days off with a great forecast (20 to 25 knots) but didnt get anything above 10 knots and back to work tomorrow

Cooktown!!--So much wind and so few kiters
Tradewinds kicked in about 10 weeks ago and haven't missed a week on an 8m
Used the 11m about 3 times and can't remember when it was calm enough to go fishing on the reef

Is there anything between Pt D and Cooktown that is worth doing a day trip to if the wind isn't good in Pt D

You might have heard of C. Tribulation or the Daintree Rainforrest. People come from all over the world to see it.
Low Island, Diving on the reef, etc etc.
Talk to Bretto for Water Sports.

If you want Guaranteed wind, C. Flattery....

cheers, obviously there is plenty to do outside of kiting, I was asking more about kiting locations within driving distance north of Pt D for a day trip in case Pt D is light on.
