Live in metro area so surf/kite small waves most of the year. Currently re-thinking my board quiver and looking at a small wave performance board shaped locally (metro or down south).
I'm sure there are a few surf/kiters out there that have been looking into doing the same but has anyone been working with local shapers to get something that rips the small stuff for both surfing and kite surfing?
hit up a shaper whose got young kids on his team, those young pricks ride 5 foot surf boards, buy one of them second hand see if they work for you

give Ryan a buzz- 0407 034 977 Ryan Von Dresselt. Best Local shaper ive found and he does all my custom boards for both surfing and kiting and ive been stoked with all his boards over the years and at a good price. he shapes out of oceanline in wangara.
Have a chat to Colin Earl or Dave Smith (katana) both do surrfboards and kiteboards and will beef up your standard PU board to suit kiting. Dave is also doing epoxy boards both surf and kite.
I am thinking of something along the lines of a copy of the al meric dumpster diver for typical metro summer slop.
