Deflating kite

Just back from a session that ended with my kite deflating after a fairly solid smack in the surf. Rev 2 7m. the outlet valve popped open. Is this a shyte happens event, or me being too keen to get out there so i didn't velcro down the valve strongly enough, or maybe too much air pressure? Any one had this? Lucky it was just in the shories - not 200m offshore

mate i think that the idea of deflate valve.. its supposed to open with large impacts to save your leading edge tearing... its a good thing :) and your right be glad you werent out far.. ive had it happen swam for about 2 hours.. not fun :)

makes sense... while it was annoying, including the blue bottles tangled in the bridle lines, i was happy as f*ck i hadn't split a seam. But nothing like your paddle in, that sounds epic... would have been nice at dusk

damn wished my deflate popped open today tore the left panel on my f-one bandit dos not a happy camper consider yourself lucky witha deflated kite haha
