What is the best way to describe kiteboarding to friends who have never done it before?
E.g. 'like wakeboarding while harnessed to a giant angry wasp'
'like sailing except the mast flies around above your head, and the boat is REALLY small'
I'm sure you guys can think of some way more inspiring/funnier ones....just trying to get the ball rolling.....
- being towed behind a helicopter which is controlled by your mind
- the ultimate meaning of life
- nothing else matters
- there is no turning back
I always tell people it's like tying a large sail around your waist and then trying to stay alive for the next two hours or so.
Its a light body feeling of 70% wieghtlessness, while 30% weight is carving shapes through the surf and air!!! Feeling the wind caress your body and the sunset shine on your shoulder. The power of controlling the wind for your leisure, but the adrenaline of the wind not being predictable and constantly having to adjust to complement her!!! ...
It's like getting a long towrope, tying one end around your waist, and the other to the towbar of a ute owned by a drunken teenage redneck.
Oh wait.. that was C kites.
" ... it's just like wakeboarding... oh, only you have to drive the boat as well.. oh and the boat flies... "
Getting blown till the point of exhaustion almost every day for 6 months
Then wondering where all the love went for the next 6 months. ![]()
Beginners - Like A migget driving a hummer ![]()

Everyone in between -Look out..........I mean a whole lot of fun ![]()
