Anyone had a go at editing on Imovie with mini DVD cameras (Sony), I have had very little luck anyone know of any tricks this is driving me nutts as it dosnt seem to recognise the cam/format worked once but hasnt since??
Hey mate,
post ur specs here so we can comment or guide you a bit better.
The more info the easier it is to help, otherwise google ur prob, and more than likely someone in the world has had exactly the same prob as you and has been kind enough to put a post up just in case someone runs into a similar problem in the future.....
If you wanna do lots of editing, basically Final Cup Pro is king from mac's...
cheers
Hi Carl
I have gone through the frustrations you are experiencing. Ended up buying conversion software to change formats.
Call me on 04100 56789 (or catch me at Scarbs) to discuss. I can convert your files into something that iMovie will handle.
I am very happy with what can be produced using iMovie.
Cheers
Graham
Guys thanks for your replys
I have a new macbook with 09 version of imovie I have a 2 year old sony mini dvd camera DCR-DVD708 I am trying to connect it via usb hub. Sony support even have a guide I found on the net but wont work??
I am only doing basic editing at this stage so will stick to I movie as it is as good as sony vegas my old editing software
Thanks for any help you may offer
Hey Saff thanks for your help - tried this over and over but still wont connect that support page is for imovie 08 maybe 09 which is what I have is just not the same although you would assume it should be better.
ahhhhhh this is crazy I may just have to fork out and get the rca analogue converter but just another 250 bucks I have to spend
Those miniDVD cameras are the hardest things to edit from. Finalising the disc and putting it in a computer disc drive was the only way I could get one to work on a pc, never tried on a mac but feel your pain. [}:)]![]()
Imovie usual picks up from the firewire port rather than usb on my macbook, does the cam have a firewire out??
Hey Hilly no firewire just usb and I agree total bas-tard of a camera difficult in so many ways amazing the different opinons from the sony shop digilife all contradicting each other![]()
Poor Relli your too hairy for me
