Just a thought, I love the feeling of loading the lines then realising into a nice pop but surely with the advance in materials, it must be possible to get some more elastic lines.![]()

Imagine the big twing when you release![]()

Someone should invent this, it would also have the additional benefit of absorbing wind guts more gently.
Imagine a kite loop, you would get a big twing from the back, travel the all way to the front of the kite and get a second twing backward (good luck lending it).
Even if the lines were only slightly more elastic, it should give a huge benefit on the pop.
I won't be doing the testing tho![]()
Uh, kite lines are specifically meant not to stretch at all.
If you had elastic lines you would lose all your power trying to tension them up...
As lines get older they get more spring in them, and that makes the kites less responsive.
Once my lines get a spring in them I get rid of them, so I have a few sets if you want to "experiment" ![]()

Yep, that would surely affect the feeling of the kite and would affect the response to steering but if you load the lines to the point of full stretch, it would definately create more pop.
I am surprised that no one experience with different lines, that is a major component of kiting and there could be some real changes with minor adjustements.
Or maybe as I suspect, they have tried many different grades of lines and found out that the extra pop doesn't warrant the sluggish feeling![]()
I have tested various lines and the stretchy ones are no good. As the others have said the lines stretch instead of turning your kite making it very sluggish.
Yes it does make the kite way slower and I think it kind of makes the lines slack better, but they also seem to break a lot easier. Just find some 2003 or older lines. You will see what its like.
