These look like super fun and not to mention extremely handy for small commutes.

If anyone has one, could you put your two cents in?

I'm keen on the offroad version for cruising to the store, inbetween train station and work, around the street, and shredding up the grass park down the road.

I'm particularly interested in the difference between a high end Aus built version:

and the el cheapo EBAY comparison:

yer i have use the fiik ones, both on and offroad ones, i would say definately get the offroad one, there 10 times funner and bit faster but you can go through gravel, mud, grass. There heaps of fun but only last 1-2 hours, i wouldnt bother getting a cheap version, and the fiik one youve linked is the lithium version, theyre abit lighter and last abit longer but there twice the price, you can get the street surfer with the lead acid battery for around $950, if you can afford it buy the lithium but i wouldnt bother paying twice the price. The fiik skateboards also have really good warranty, not sure how long it last but my mates one broke and they replaced it within a week.

Unforunately they are completely gay!. If you want to shred offroad then get a mountain board!. then you will also be able to use the kite with it also.

Want to cruise the street on small commutes? longboard skateboard.

So you've ridden one? Gay as in because they are electric? Or because they just dont feel good to ride?

Yes but not for very long i was offended. gay because its electric. it would be similat to putting and electic motor on a surfboard.

There are petrol powered units which are a bit less gay.

the boards themselves are heavy indeed with bad handling for any serious offroading you need bindings. anything without bindings suggesting you can offroad effectively is juts taking the piss.

I was doing 53kph on my longboard skateboard last night and that was very manly and super sweeeeeet.

Now if you grab a mountainboard. fire up your kitesurfing kites and boost off down the beach and high speed that is sweeeet. Yourl go faster than you cheesy electric skateboard can powered by the wind.

PS i've longboard skated for 12 years, mountain boarded for a couple and been kitelandboarding for 6. By far the most fun is kite landboarding, for anything on the tarmac longboards rule. mountain boarding is too limiting.

Since I moved to netherlands we found here tons of guys riding longboard on the bicycle lane. It's pretty funny.
The electric skate is like riding a cruiser but you don't have to push. It's pretty fast and trust me, it's far different than kiting because you can't balance against the kite ...

Here is sold for 400 Euro and I was tempted to buy one, because I do landboarding, but honestly, the board is over 10Kg with the battery so I can't imagine any nice jibe on the grass with that heavy board ...
