Pardon the pun but this instance its true.
Woodmans point has been getting very busy lately. Large groups of kiters on holiday have set up base camp on the beach.
The intention of this post it to bring to light the abuse the beach has been receiving. Yesterday I counted well over 10 empty used water bottles lying around the beach, empty tins of red bull, beer bottles chucked into the dunes, tuna tins and paper plates lying around the dune among other bits and pieces of rubbish. I nearly stepped on a ripped up red bull tin!!!
I will take a litter bag down there on my next session but its disgusting to see people leaving their **** all over our beaches! Take it home.
Right on man ! I dont kite Woodies, but my local area gets Trashed on a regular basis .mainly Dog **** and blowies , millions of em, right where we pump up!
Lets start a "Bash a Litterer Day" Today.
Sounds like beach one down at woodies too - rubbish and people dishing abuse - one local kiter the other day offered advice to a tourist that standing in the launching / landing area is not the best area to play with and learn how to control a kite - he was told to f**k off by the tourist - i am amazed to see people can come to such good kiteboarding location and not leave there bad attitude at home!
It is a pain that the local council cant install bins in the carparks although its not hard to pick it up and take it home with you
Come on guys, they're just a bit homesick....
That's better, now it looks like home. Ahh redbull cans, euro beer everywhere, now I'm a local I can be rude!
Yeah, death to beach litterers.....
How's this on the subject of littering, not kitesurfing though. A Kite surfing buddy of mine was over at rotto the day after Raft up. He just happened to go snorkling where all the boats normally raft up. He was blown away with what those pratts left in the water. He ended up snorkling and collecting about 10 garbage bags full of empty beer bottle an rubbish. There was loads more but he had to stop picking them up because he was totally buggered. When we kill the Euro Trash can we kill those pratts as well???? ![]()
Not sure how many of the visiting euros read these forums. Hopefully they do and read this post.
Assuming they dont, its up to you Woodies locals to have a polite word directly to the litter bugs (if you know who they are) to change their ways.
If they ark up and become abusive, you need to stand your ground and tell them to respect the locals, the beach and the local guidelines.
Its a problem everywhere and not confined to tourists. Check out scarbs after everyone goes home, crap everywhere, even with bins every 40m.
Ignorance, self obsession and laziness are the problems here and its rife in our communities.
I used to love going down to Woodies every now and then but don't really bother anymore for the same reason, the other thing that really s###s me is when they go out for a session and come in they leave thier kites with lines still attached all over the beach (have a good ol chat in the meantime) making it near impossible for others to launch or land.
Anyway good winds to all, lets hope they go home and rubbish thier own beaches soon.
melville was shocking yesterday .
Mentioned to a guy he should walk out into the water a bit further if he was going to walk his kite back . 10 seconds later the wind dropped and there was an obsession lodged in the two white gum trees . That made my day . Then a euro was trying to teach his gf probably about 10m from the waters edge and lost control of his kite, almost barreling into me while packing up .
Not to mention that no-one gives a **** about the yellow markers . The amount of kites i saw almost blown into trees or just general dickwad behaviour was amazing
Where are those carpark thieves when you need them.
They could be emptying their cars while they're kiting.![]()
Do you know the thing that ****s me more than anything else? Disposable nappies full of ****.
What kind of moron does stuff like that? And there are those out there that hold out hope for the planet!
good to see you wa blokes have got it all, wind, waves, weather, rubbish, ,,,,,,ty nappies, syringes, and thieves. What have you got to complain about? You have everything that we don't. (we do have some wind and waves)
I once found a used nappy under the supermarket shelves in the house cleaning product area. What I could not understand was how you could do the change and not have anyone see. Some people are just lower than a snakes belly in a wagon rut
And before you ask it was Woolworths, and yes the nappy was very much out of date.
Good on you Sci. The only thing we locals can do is show a good example like Sci is going to do. I love all our beaches and have seen the scene change for the worse as the foreign invasion gains momentum each year. It is simply a matter of time before something bad happens and kiting gets banned somewhere in Perth Metro.
Locals need to pick up the trash I'm afraid. Bring a bag to the beach, fill it with trash and empty it at home....easy and you will have better sessions.
Rangers need to get up early in the morning and bust some people in camper vans overnighting in our car parks. I have written to the rangers at Cockburn Council with regard to this.
Finally, WAKSA needs to get a bit more proactive about getting kiting brochures out in to shops and to the airport; WAKSA could also organize some beach clean up days. I pay $65 for insurance and beach access. Surely there is WAKSA money to buy some garbage bags and organize to clean up a beach or two. I doubt WAKSA would have problems finding volunteers from within its membership. Next down winder can start and end with 5min. beach clean up.....not hard.
As a WAKSA member I would like all Perth Metro beaches to be WAKSA/AKSA members only with tags on harnesses. The local councils must see that local kiters are nice folks with good manners and respect for the beautiful place in which we are so privileged to live.
Personally I can't wait until they all fly away again.................who needs trash.
After today i think i've finally decided i prefer winter kiting. I don't even bother going to woodies on weekends anymore. It was really good and not very busy all though october/november but now you can't move...
this is a joke.. euros are too euro to come on a aus forum.
all you do is tell em to neck a cock and clean up or F* off.. its worked for me everytime I've been at safeties and euros were koooking out tryna learn in the pond or being complete D bags...
Hey Waxy,
You do have thieves in your neck of the woods, down a brand new wet suit.![]()
And my lord there are heaps of those boat types get around Danger on a hot day
.
I've kited in every state in OZ and your local crew are the most friendly by a mile. Pfftttt, would never go to St Kilda again, heaps of tossers there.
Some of you city folk need to have a good hard look at your self, no wonder there are kite bans on some of your beaches.
