Was supposed to be headed up to exmouth to camp on the beach and kite for a week but there is no wind.. What is going on up there at the moment, this is meant to be it's bread and butter this time of year!?
Been thinking I'll go anyway based on the theory it can't go with out wind any longer but interested to hear some locals thoughts? Ie Turtle Hunter would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
from my experience december can be hit and miss with the wind, it is generally 25-30 knots or nothing at all. and no swell after november.
oct /nov are the reliable months.
(i was only there for 3 years, turtle hunter can give you more reliable advice)
Also (I believe) the wind is measured at the airport, on the other side of the cape, so there is normally more wind on the coast side, particularly the further South you go i.e. Sandy bay.
Cheers guys, Tightlines I was thinking that also, I may be heading heading a little further south perhaps.. ;)
what wind
Started late (october thanks Laurie and crew) but we have had a week of 10 to 15kn this last week. Should be back for the next week although will probably be 12m weather. Just bring all your kites and cover all your bases. Looks like the swell may have finished for the year though. El nina or whatever it's called definably seems to have a big affect up here when it comes to wind later in the season mind you I am not complaining yet. Also don't worry too much what the graphs say as far as wind strength goes just as long as it's coming from the south and sw in the arvo. Like tightlines said don't even look at Leamonth wind as it's a bit like checking the seabreeze at northam. Should also be a few crays washed up on the beach today too after the earthquake just off the coast last night.
Hey Turtle Hunter is that wind meter at the visitors centre on line yet.
If not its time we started a lobby group - its not that hard!!!
mother nature better give us some wind fast then
apparently from wednesday onwards its not looking too bad for Perth
local abc radio was asking people to ring in and tell stories of what they were doing when the quake hit...
...at 3am
first three bushies to call in all said, sleeping
