Hello,
I going to Fiji in August for 3 weeks.
Does anybody have some information about kitesurf in fiji?
I have no idea where to go to have the best conditions possible.
If you guys have also some advice concerning accomodation and other things to do or see over there, I'd be happy to hear from you ![]()
Thanks!
Nani nu ra is the place, there are cheap backpacker accom nearby food expensive. Expect alot of downtime, wind unreliable, hard to land a kite during high tide due to palm trees , very sharp coral at low tide. Don't have to high expectations !
Hoo, It doesn't look like a perfect place according to you?!![]()
Do you know if there are some spots around Suva?
mate try a search on fiji, this topic has been covered plenty of times. also u could try kitebeaches.com
Fiji is hit and miss mate....
when it's on it's OOOONNNNN
and when it's not.....well u know....
check out windguru for the expected winds
contact Ian from Fiji surfaris...he's a graet bloke and will take you to the gooooood spots.

don't be put of by people trying to scare you away from fiji. it rocks. the people are awsome, the winds good and there's lots to do in your down time. and its cheap. and not full of bogans like bali.
I just got back from Fiji today if you would like to PM me I will be more then happy to give you some info.
anyone kite down on the coral coast? Im heading there end of July - kids fly eat and stay for $99 so couldnt resist, hope there is wind and waves
will post the experience when I return too
If you're heading to Suva, there are some areas in Suva as well as down in Pacific Harbour (about an hour from Suva). Quite a few kiters living in Pac Harbour at the moment..
I know they were heading out to kite in Suva near a grocery store called Cost U Less, and the rugby stadium... The water was pretty flat out that way and you could kite out to waves if you like the waves.. So yes, there are lots of places to kite in Fiji, just not a lot of people on Viti Levu doing it..
Have a good trip and hope you get some kiting in..
Aloha for now
Gary
Yes mate heading out last week August first week September, group of seven going. my mail is kawmech@gmail, send me your mail and i will send you some info. Been out three times now.

September at Nagigia just of kadavu is awesome cross offshore around 20/25 with sick waves and a lagoon set up,its a bit out of the way but you wont be disappointed, guaranteed, also has the best diving conditions I have ever seen.Wish I was goin.
Thanks a lot for your helps guys!
I'll go to Suva through Nadi first, then I don't know yet...
I'll be there 3 weeks from the 28 July so we should be able to meet there!
I'll send you guys a PM.
Nagigia looks really great... will look for information about this place!
I saw many of you guys are from QLD, I'm heading up there next week.
Where are you exactly? I'd like to kite with you in QLD!
If you are going to Suva I would recommend kiting at Novua beach about a 30 min drive from Suva heading back towards Pacific Harbour. Novua beach has a flat shallow area as well as a bit of a beach break out past the sand bar. The beach at Novua is also a lot cleaner then the beach at Suva.
I live in Suva, when the wind is on like this week it's great. We have all tide conditions, and a huge seawall to kite behind for perfectly flat butter.
The left is pretty good. Not much of a paddle wave but with a kite it can be surfed.
The coral coast generally has more wind but u will find it hard to get a low tide spot as the coral lagoons get exposed.
Sigatoka is a huge open beach with a river mouth that gets decent swell and cranking winds. The only real beachy in Fiji.
Navua was discovered for kiting by My friend and myself many years ago when we lived in Pac Harbour. It's got a faily close outer reef and sand bars close to shore, pretty shallow but safe, can ride all tides. High is good for the reef and low is good for mucking around the sandbars.
A friend of mine part owns Nagigia so i can pass your email to him.
hi im staying in Taveuni for four weeks from july 20th to august 10th, can you reccomend anywhere there or is it all mainland.
Also anyone have a board - tt i could borrow or rent and a pump? Got everything else though
Would i be right in thinking its rashie and shorts weather no need for a suit?
i have been to Taveuni but not kited there. It does get wind and it's small enough to find a lagoon with the right wind direction.
Most of the good wind lately has been with rain, we do get nice sunny days with good wind too. but on those rainy days it does get cold and we all go out in wetty's. A spring suit or a good vest may be enough.
Hey Dave do you know anything about the break in the reef at the Shangril La on the coral coast - on google earth there are some pics of surf but you can never really be sure... I think I will be doing a few trips to Sigatoka for some waves and wind...
End of July - cant wait
Never been lucky enough to be @ the Fijian with wind and my kites, but it does look like the waves can be fun. Not really surfable though.
The lagoon there is good, heaps of wind but too shallow @ low tide.
However Sigatoka is 10 min drive for your low tide sesh.
In that area there is a beach called Natadola, it's got a really cool left that would be kitable. It's a fair way out off the island. I have taken footage of dudes towing in getting double overhead barrels out there.
It has now a recently opened Intercontinental resort.
The beach is probably the nicest beach in fiji but the wind wud be offshore at the resort and side on on the other side of the bay.
Heaps of rain in august for the coral coast and pac harbour. Recon u r best off heading elsewhere at that time of year in Fiji for your money and to get good wind for your time.
Thinking of giving Rydges Hideaway Resort located on the Coral Coast a shot, seems great for a family stay. But whats it like more importantly for kitesurfing?
Constant winds,
Baz.
Hey Baz if you are going to stay at Rydges you will only be about 10min from Sigatoka and if you head back the other way towards Suva you will only be about 40min from Pac Harbour and Novua beach so it might not be a bad spot to stay at if you dont mind a bit of a travel.
Thanks Fecal,
We are flexible about where to stay, as long as the location has the facilities for the kids. Are there any resorts at Sigatoka or Novua beach that would fit the bill.
Thanks,
Baz.
Hey Baz check the deal with Qantas at the moment - $99 for the kids for everything!!! We will be in Fiji at the end of July, looking at some trips either side as Fecal mentions, fingers crossed with the kids thing, happy families makes for happy kite times :)
Hey Baz check out the Uprising beach resort in Pacific Harbour then you are about 20min from Novua Beach and about 40min from Sigatoka and if it is windy enough you will be able to kite out the front of the Uprising resort itself.
