Fin Advice

ive got a naish custom board with quad fin setup, have knocked out a few fins in sand and reef on beachies. Now i need to grab a few more fins, but there are about 1500 types out there, and i'll be buggered if i know the real diffie between them. was hoping to get larger/normal size fins for when riding larger waves or stronger breezes (to hold line better), and a few smaller ones for lighter choppy loose beachie stuff.

can anyone please advise on what shape/size/brand etc might be the best way to go??

Depends which year naish you have? The older ones had FCS and the newer ones Have Futures.. If you are continually hitting sand I would suggest glass fins as they are stronger..FEA Quad are nice fins.. But if you think you can keep yourself off the sand definitely go the STRETCH quad..

If you have an old Naish.. ie 08 with the FCS.. A set of K2.1 PC are a very popular fin..

You don't want to go to big or you will loose the controlled slide..

If you are hitting reefs / sand don't you want weaker fins so break your fins not the board?

no fins, unless your on a surfboard. learn to use your rail!

LOL jkiter - is that a surfboard with boots your riding in your avatar?

Anyway - he's right - NO FINS for a twin tip gives the greatest benefit if you can be bothered to learn to edge.

not quite correct, Naish now use a finbox called DFS which is the same size as FCS but has one large tab instead of two smaller separate ones. for this reason any FCS fin can be fitted to the Naish directional boards.

I had an old 08 naish and if you sand down the FCS they would fix.. Do the new boxes take Futures fins aswell ?? I just saw a pic and thought it looked like a Futures box.
