I guess most people who kite at Brighton Le Sands have a bit of a troll on here so I am keen to see if people would be interested in starting to run an informal circuit at the top end of the first groyne.
As everyone knows it gets pretty hectic between the first two groynes with everyone going in and out in random positions and angles.
So whats the interest in having a go a running a circuit something like this:
- Enter the water at least two line lenghts down from the top groyne
- Head out downwind (NE) of the incomming riders
- Get in the lineup and come in inline with the groyne
- Do your teabagging
- Head out again downwind of the incomming riders
This should tie tidy up a good number of riders and those not interested can stay two line lenghts down wind and stay as is. There is still usually loads of room upwind and downwind of this area.

Sounds like a good idea. Thats how they work it over at Kurnell . Hardest part will be to communicate it to the newcomers to the area.
This has been discussed at Brighton on a few occasions. I tend to agree with a circuit idea. Though am very wary about tea bagging in the flat water area section behind the groyne. As this lines up with the carpark track, and seems to attract plenty of swimmers and kids in this section uptil about 20 or so knots. By encouraging many people performing their tricks behind the groin, also promotes the show ponies, and could cause problems, I actually prefer people doing their tricks further down the beach as their are generally fewer beach goers.
All else aside, a circuit is needed, and I have been following this mantra pretty much for the last few years.

In WA if it gets crowded we just 15-30km downwinders. Oh and it's 25 knots :-) (all the time)
So weve got two possible yehs and a W AH trying to rub our noses in it.
Surely out of the 50 or more people that kite here on a regular basis a few more have an opinion on this?
Give up... the spot will always be a circus.
You should expect this to be the spot where newbs enter the water to start a body drag.
Some instructor to park his boat.
Kites to collide.
Agro and yelling from people who think they own the place.
Accept it, move on. As you said there is plenty of space up and down wind.

We did this several years ago at Dolls for the same reasons described and it worked well but to make it work you need signage and a dedicated crew who are willing to offer their time to make it work.
We prepared a sandwich board with diagrams to place on the beach. Also, a big bright witches hat with "No launching north of this mark" (NE wind) placed on the beach to free up the corner for transitions.
Small witches hats were placed in a square to designate launching and landing zones. Rolling up lines is encourged and stack the kites when not in use.
This works very well when everyone knows the drill.
