Good kite spots between Whitsundays and Cairns?

Hi Guys,

I am planning on taking a six day car trip between Arlile beach/ Witsundays and Cairns. I am taking some of my kiting kit allong, and would appreciate some pointers to some of the good kite spots on this route.

Also, as I can probably only take one kite <Insert Jetstar related bagage curse here>, I am trying to figure out if I should be taking my 11M or 14M (I weigh 90KG). What are the wind conditions normally llike in late August?

Northern end of Queens Beach near inlet at Bowen is worth a look, had a good kite there a few weeks back.

Alva looks great if get right wind and tide working for you. Unfortunately I was there in 12 knots with outgoing tide.

Mission Beach- nice beach but kiting in chop. Dunk Island has potential.

If you can, continue your trip up to Cook Town, you wont be sorry. Have fun.

backing up the northern end of queens beach at bowen. Its called the don river.
Mid to high then back again will see you with butter conditions for the twin tippers and bashable wind chops or launch pads outside the banks. Good times.
The only downside is the resident croc but you dont fall do you? I asked a local dude and he didnt seem to worry to much. I think the further north you go all the logs have teeth anyway.... Have fun bro..

check the weather right up until 2 hours before you leave. The forecasts are reasonably good these days. If a solid strong wind warning is forecast and you are going to be somewhere sticking into the wind flow - think about the 11m. Otherwise, go the 14m if you are 90kg.

QLD coastal = 15-20knots most of the time

QLD outer reef = 25-35 knots most of the time
