Just treated myself and bought a 9m and 12m Rebel and a North Nugget.

I just wanted to say that the guys at AKS have given me fantastic service. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to buy new gear. They take time to explain everything you need to know about your new gear. They even went out of their way and stayed open longer so that I could come in after work to pick up and drop off a demo kite and they also stayed open longer when I came to buy my gear today.

All and all a great experience, nice guys and great gear! Thanks AKS!

Mate you really think I haven't thought this through?

I wanna be able to go out in about 13 knots because I don't really get a lot of days to go out because I work till 5.30 Mon to Fri

I demoed the 9m on Saturday morning in about 14/15 knots which of course was too little wind. So I decided to go 9m for my main kite (17 - 25) and below my 12m. For the really light wind days I have the nugget.

I also have a shinn monk twinnie and I might still buy a second hand 7m for the massive winds. I just didnt want to spend another $1200 on something I'll barely use.

So at 12/13 knots you're standing on the shore watching me crank upwind on my 12 and my nugget

Well i asked someone (will remain nameless) in AKS last summer if they could explain the difference between a Rebel and an Evo. I having the latter.

"Well the Rebel is a beginners kite and the Evo is for girls"

I think the answer to your question on the straps Puetz is that it saves you having to wait for replacements on warranty. They just give you 2 sets.

I've got a Wam, which I love, but the straps keep failing. I'm waiting on my 3rd replacement one now, it's only been 2 months wait so far.

Hopefully the new boards coming out now have changed the strap setup, keep it simple.

Recon you got the right size for this weekend, looks like the first sailable seabreeze of the season is on the way.

Haha yeah exactly! AKS gave me an extra free pair because apparently the standard ones wear after about 6 months

I was actually thinking the same thing about gear size and board actually.

But add the shinn monk in and all is sorted! An awesome setup dude! You'll be able to take that 9m to its limit on the shinn, and the nugget will easily allow you to bleed into wind ranges you'd normally have to go a change ya kite.

Based on the last few seasons you will be in the right zone 90% of the time - (and one thing I learnt from AKS - who do give great service, is the have as much money in the air as possible and not sitting in ya shed).

The new season may reduce this ratio a bit, there may be a number of days you'll be wishing you had an 8m rebel or 7m, but with two kites you have to place ya bets somewhere. The two boards will also extend both ends.

Can't go wrong with that gear mate,,,,enjoy!

Apoligies for sounding like a tool...

last year when using my surfboard after work i mostly used my 6m- im 82kg...Given its predicted that this year will tend to have stronger thermal winds due to the differential in ocean tempretures. You may find yourself a tad overpowered.

no worries mate.

I weigh 90 - 92kg and as I said I also have a Shinn monk tt and am looking at getting a 2nd hand 7m when I trade in my old 9m convert
