Anyone ever successfully kited here? Attempted it on the weekend but the wind was average and just too flukey over the dunes to have any fun. Butter flat water though.
Resolved the frustration with a long session at Point Moore afterwards - love the wind in Gero :)
Straight west, me and a mate hit it up last winter,we were getting some crazy speed, pretty boring after a bit though, be careful as I did a big carve and kicked a couple of bottles onto the bank, it should work straight east aswell

I live 500m from the river so i kite here quite a bit, just need a strong S or a good W, east is dodgey from the headlands.
And you wont be able to go most weekends due to everyone crabbing on the mouth which is the only place you can kite
I love Greenough, lived on Gaskin Dive for 12 years.
Be mindfull of the power lines left of the boat shed.
I used to do "up rivers" to Devlins Pool from time to time. There is one wicked ramp slider up there!
Well, there was years ago.
Cool, maybe next time! I noticed the power lines and was constantly staring at them when the kite was luffing around in the lighter breeze. "Up rivers" sound awesome ![]()
Up river is a challenge, gusty and painfully slow.
What happened to the ramp? I remember it used to be parked near the entrance, back in the mid 90's. Before kiting was invented.
Dave an forgot his wife's name ( now divorced) had it removed when they started the river cruises which ended pretty soon after it began
does the river mouth still break through in the winter?.. made for some lovely banks for a week or so ![]()
