I ride the Argo 9m (and 12m Griffin)

The Argo is a very good bit of kit, I won't post more because there's plenty of positive reviews around for you to peruse.

I have been using the Argo 9 for the past season and with a 6'6" and a 6'1" I can get going in nearly any condition over 14 kts. In the surf the Argo is fantastic and the customer service is great from the crew at Griffin. Definitely try and demo one.

Shouldn't you go out and buy a 12m as well?
I dont think you have enough kites for all wind ranges yet.

Some people just have no idea about safety.

saw some pics of the new 2011 griffin bar today. It looks nice, new metal cleat, push away release, mini 5th running through the release, self orienting when unhooked, swiveling donkey dick, it even has elastic to keep excess depower from flapping about, all up it has pretty much everything I want in a bar.

I also heard they have a new kite "the chimera" or something for this season, no pulleys wave/ freeride kite. Any body got any info on it?

If there was one i would,i use the kites in the kiteschool as well as being the nz distributor so a good perk of the job, dont think im biased toward griff though cos im a naish dealer and also sell a couple of other brands, love the argo though prob cos im 98kg and its easier to ride a grunter of a kite than loose 10kg.

Interesting.
Does the Chimera drop out of the sky when you're not hanging on to the bar?

I tried an xyz delta kite again last weekend, blew me away how powerful they are!
The huge down side was I had to really hang onto it otherwise it would just fall out of the sky.
The kite took a lot of concentration to fly, I like to just cruise around.

Deltas would be very good for a kite school. I thought the whole concept of having to "hold on" for the entire session over the top.
I could have kited another 3 hours on my old kites with the strength used for the 30 minute delta session.

If you're used to riding c-kites with limited depower, might I suggest a stopper ball on the chicken loop if you don't like having to hang on the entire time?

Personally I don't find the bar pressure on the Argo that high, so I'm happy to hold on and only use the stopper to help for tricks.

The griff bars have a movable stopper and on the back line setting they are one of the lightest bar pressure kites i've ridden, i rode the 10.5 chimera the other day for a straight 4 hours, one handed on the bar for most of the time.
