Guys - beware the guy with the aluminium dinghy at Melville. I was kiting there today and about 5:30 / 6pm, he came running through the kiting area at reasonably low speed. There were still about 10-15 kiters out and he was trolling a Halco Chromie Lure - brand new. How do I know? It ended up embedded in my left ankle... It had a treble lure with the barbs not squashed etc. I was able to remove it without too much trouble, but it could have been a lot worse. Please beware if this guy turns up again. True story; with witnesses.
Hey Dunc,
that hook is called a gang hook, and I am bloody glad he just missed catching me. He had to have been deliberately trying to get us, or just massively ignorant![]()
I found that document I mentioned, http://www.riverguardians.com/Documents/SwanCanning_Boatingguide.pdf . It seems that it is ok for power boats to be in the kiting area, but makes me wonder if the windsurfers are sticking to the 8 knot restriction in their area![]()
Sad kn person. Take photos of the dude, his boat, your injuries.
I saw a man put a white buoy down a few weeks back, he put it just down wind near shore of the yellow kite buoy. Once the buoy was in a dingy pulling a young guy on a wake ski tied to it; and then the three fellas headed off across the road to one of the houses behind the first row. I'm sure there is no connection between the two incidents regarding dingys at Melville.
