Hi,
I have bought a second hand north evo 9m and the idiot I bought it from cut off the 5th line so I can't fly it until I replace it.
I am on holidays and there is no kiting store nearby. Can someone please tell me what the length of this centre line is so I can get kiting???
cheers
jans
The evo is a 4 line kite, but has the option of 5th line for safety.
Not dependent on the 5th line, thats probably why there is none.
As long as all 4 lines are equal it should fly fine.
Thanks for the replies!
I understand its a four line kite, i have owned evos for 2 years now. The problem is that I have a 5 line bar and I need to know what the length is so I can rig a new one until I can get a replacement from the kite shop.
I would really appreciate it if you could measure it!
thanks!
Jans
make sure you have no depower on, pull your bar down to your chicken loop (i.e. sheeted right in), all lines should be the same length, including the 5th line.
... lucky its an Evo so it can fly no worries on 4 line bar but I have a short term solution ie you broke it during a session and you don't want to go home. The suggested mod is not workable on Rebels by the way.
Since all 3 front lines are same length, you can attach your blue line to one side and the other black and red togeather on the other front attachment. If you have to punch out, you still have some form of safety ie flag out, but it will be difficult to recover.
Not sure if the Y point height is the same on the 4 line bar to the 5 line bar but at a pinch, you'll get out. The only thing I don't know is how long you can run your bar this way, but I have seen kites fly for whole sessions this way with no worries. We had a guy here on a Rebel who would mix up the line attachments and accidently attach the safety to one side and what would be normally the front line to the 5th line on the kite. They would only find out the mistake when it came time to do the 5th line self landing, as in, pull the 5th to tip the kite forward to land and it aint going as normal.
Good luck, cheers for now,

yep - line lengths can be compared only when the kite lines are fully powered (front lines are at maximum length) and the bar sheeted in - does that make sense?? BTW I've had 10 out of the last 11 days out on the water - Christmas day got in the way!! Go Gippsland!!
thanks for the help guys, hae jerry rigged another cord and should work fine.
Now just need some wind :)
