Actually I think everyone is Steve and that the entire Forum sits on Steve's computer's Hard drive. It's a game for people with multiple personality disorder. Steve has hundreds of logins and none of this is real, only to the voices in Steve's head.

A suggestion for the prominent retailers and other site sponsors:

If, somewhere down the track, some anonymous poster seems to be posing as you, come out straight away and assure the rest of us that it's not you and request the imposter to back off. Nip it in the bud rather than let it fester. If you don't get onto it quickly then it's not unreasonable for folk who have no better information to assume that it may be you and that you're trying to get away with it and/or let it blow over.

For those who peg me as a hater I'll say it again: I've greatly appreciated advice I've had from Steve over the past year and a bit well before I'd bought anything from Kitepower. I think his role as a knowledgeable site sponsor is valuable. I've had two retail experiences with Kitepower, one online and one visit to the Sydney store recently and both were positive experiences. (Steve, I asked if you were in as I wanted to say hi and put a face to the name but you were out on an errand.)

I've posted on this matter purely because it seemed to me that there was a lot of good stuff that may be spoiled by a lapse of judgement and a desire to push a bit hard.

Was it Steve, was it someone else? Perhaps we'll never know the truth to all this but one thing that is true is that we can only go on the information presented, and if this is dodgy information then there'll be dodgy consequences.

look mr "anonymous let it blow, with 17 posts all on this topic credibility-meister," find the post where i hated on steve. find the post where i did anything other than challenge the wisdom and integrity of using a double login to present views anonymously in support of vested interests.

i haven't deleted any posts, although one disappeared when laurie pulled a thread earlier today, so the evidence is there for all to see. now put a decent case for yourself or p!ss off.

Hmm. Steve, I've appreciated the advice I've gotten from you directly and indirectly via seabreeze, and on the phone on one occasion. Although you're a retailer with vested interests I think you also offer useful and well-considered perspectives. However the persistence with the KKK thing and the use of "Happy1" to prop up "Kitepower's" posts (see recent thread about 5th line safety) sullies for me what would otherwise be an excellent role that you play on seabreeze.

I appreciate that it may be frustrating to always have to be seen to be responsible and professional, even though plenty of haters will just flame away whatever you say, but perhaps that's the price to be paid for the exposure that you get here? The personal is political at least some of the time, so perhaps some sentiments are best kept to yourself or just shared among your local crew?

Put in more crass terms: Can I, in good conscience, buy kites from someone who thinks using "KKK" is funny and/or appropriate on an internationally visible forum? Can I still take seriously the advice of a retailer who feels the need to push things so hard that he uses another login to do it?

Personal and professional integrity is not always easy to maintain, but for that very reason it's all the more valued when it occurs, for this little consumer at least.
