Hi guys,
I know this might be seen as advertising, but i really need your help so i hope that justifies my following questions.
As the heading reads, I need some help pricing my kitesurfing gear for the sell-section. I have gotten an internship in NYC, and is therefore moving abroad. I have tried reading the buy and sell section to get an idea of what kites are selling for these days, but it is quite confusing so i hope you might be able to help me:
1)
I need to price a package consisting of 7-9-11 m2 Slingshot Fuel kites from 2008. The 7 has sailed less than 10 times, the 9 about 30 times and the 11 has some minor scratches which have no impact on its performance. I have an bar but it is a bit worn down.
2)
I have an SS Fuel kite of 11m2 from 2007 that has sailed less than 15 times. It is without a bar, so i am puzzled how much to ask for it, if anything?
3)
A month ago I bought a new Hyperlite wakeskate to replace my old. The wakeskate is still in the packaging, 115 cm. long and with soft top deck such that it can be ridden without shoes. Has anyone any experiences with selling wakeskates?
4)
Finally, i have an Dave Macaulay shortboard for sale. It is in good condition, has a carbon reinforced tail, a small repair in the nose and a bubble the size of a 50 dollar bill, but comes with a perfect fit padded bag. I am thinking around 200 dollar, is that to high?
Thanks guys. As you can see from my quiver, i am not new to the sport, but this is the first time i sell my used equipment on the internet. Any help will be much appreciated.

i reckon $5000 would be a fair price to unload your gear. Using the indonesian metric system. (halve it and halve it again)
Especially having 4 kites and a worn out bar. Just put 'crinkly' in your add. This automatically gains attention of would be buyers.
How did you 'sail' the 11m 15 times without a bar? I'm puzzled also on how that happens. If your experienced then you should know how much your gear is worth, and also how much you guess its worth.
Your post could be misinterpreted towards someone who has knocked off someones garage full of stuff and has no idea how much stuff is worth. Also with 2 posts on SB also.
Silly question but why don't you contact a retailer and ask them? Someone like AKS or Kitepower???
Your biggest problem is that they are Fuels.
Fantastic kites but the only kiters who want them are freestylers and freestylers dont want old kites - at any price.
You may fluke a buyer for your 08 quiver in a tourist arriving with no gear but not much chance of that this time of year.
Forget about your 07 or throw it in with the 08's to make the complete package slightly more attractive. Without a bar its worth diddly-squat.
Whatever - you are pushing a smelly load uphill. Second hand kite market is bad enough even when you have items that ppl want.
If you can get $800 for your 3 or 4 kite & 1 bar package you will be doing well. So will whoever can make good use of it - if that person exists - but thats just the way it is.
DONT SELL YOUR FUELS TO A BEGINNER. Disgusting how many non kiters come into the shop having picked up a bargain priced old Rhino or Fuel to get started on their new adventure
Totally ripped off.
At $200 for your Macaulay board and bag will probably go but the bubble sounds pretty suss?
If you cant move your 07 we would welcome it for spare parts. We pass on any free spare parts we collect for free to kiters who are very grateful to be able to keep their kites going a bit longer. Old parts are like hens teeth. Companies just dont support older models with the full range of spares for nearly long enough. Very frustrating when you see perfectly OK kites shelved for the want of a few bits and pieces.
i think you should just give me that 07 fuel ![]()
umm might have a better shot at selling them seperate. or if you're going to kite in NYC post them over via mail and it will save you big coin.
you only have one bar between 4 kites? must be pretty worn out ay?
700 800 850/900 for 7 9 11 respectively then minus about 200 for barless models is how i'd go.
skate sell it for about 70 - 80 % of retail cost and no idea on shorty.
Start at $450 for the 7M without bar, add $100 for the 9M no bar, and try $750 for the 11m with the old bar.
11M 07 no bar $500
wakeskate $100
Surfboard $200-250
Thats what I would advise if you really want to sell them. Say $1500 for the lot?
when my shoulders not bung i'll have to swing past mate
pretty keen to see your set up as well, havent had the chance to look yet.
well higher price gives you room to barter with.
no, why do we ask?
edit: just realised its 08 which means it's the last of the square tip fuels. So really they should hold a high value being the last of the awesoommmenesss that was older fuels but in reality they are closer to the price that KP mentioned.
Thanks guys, the help is much appreciated.
I think the skate will be put on the market for 150, and the surfboard for 200.
These being the final generation of the epic fuel, as you mention Charl, i might just keep them until i return. It sounds like they are worthless now, and then they cant possibly fall in price!
The 07 Fuel + bar will go for 400. If there are no takers, i will give it to Woodies for good karma.
