I will be residing in Hong Kong for 3 or 4 months as of early May. I know it is not the best season, but does it get windy enough at all? I will have my paraglider for those 8-14 knot days.
At this time of the year, does it get strong enough for an 11 meter often? If not, are there some good locations close by?
My glider already takes up 70% of my gear, and if I take my kite stuff I will be for sure over the limit, so not sure if it will be worthwhile or not.

Hi, you might not get more than 15 knots unless there's a Typhoon, which is possible in July and August. The few days either side of the storm likely to be 20kts....and during...um 60++ 
Problem is launching, I've only ever seen a couple of people kite in HK and I reckon they had a boat, or got one of the wakeboard boat companys to take them out, from Repulse bay or Stanley. I don't think you can launch from the controlled beaches, not allowed even to fly a kiddies toy kite without getting yelled at by the life guards.
Windsurfing is waaaaaaay more popular in HK. This is one place where the windsurfing hay days of the 90's still lives on .

I've had plans to kite up there before but they didn't eventuate, so I can only tell you what I've heard which is when there is wind, the locals use their 14-15M kites probably 80% of the time, and their 9-10's the other 20%.
