i worked this out the other day i went down to my local beach.

there where 4 kiters on the water, and three were doing flicky spinnies.

now you time these number by no. of beaches australia wide.

4 x 750 = 3000.

therefore of all these kiters, 75% are gay homo kiters.

staggering numbers really.

hope this helps?

I have another question, are there more kiters, or boogeyboarders in Australia?

If there are more boogeyboarders, one would have to assume that it is a cooler sport.

Surfingboye is on the right path- but he has not factored in some things...

the number of kiters on the water at any given time will be negatively impacted by-

the icecream truck coming around
wet t shirt competitions ( kiters like to enter )

the number of kiters on the water at any given time will be positively impacted by-

The presence of a camera (kiters like to show off )
The presence of hot chicks ( kiters like to show off )
The presence of other water craft ( kiters love to jump things )

Therefore SB's original equation whilst a good attampt is inherently flawed and inaccurate unless he can vouch for the presence or lack thereof of the above items- in which case we may be able to apply a correction factor.

Funny you're asking this question, I've counted them the other day.

There are exactly 2357 kiters in Australia. That excludes the touros and the new beginners from this week.

There you go.

you see Kite boarding is in an entirely different and so much awesomer league to the boogey boarders. kite boarding is so cool it cant even be compared in a pie chart!!! a good example is base jumping/sky diving compared to sudoku. lots of people play sodoku but base jumping is so much cooler.

I thought up an experiment to prove.... walk along the beach and tell 20 girls you kite board and 20 other girls you boogey board and see which gets you laid more. if you dont get laid at all see which one gets you the least amount of slaps and pepper spray :)

..would you, please, tell us, where is this stretch of beach where those 40 single girls are in walking distance from each other waiting for us risk-takers to tell them who we are.......I will even take my son's boogie board...

I think for the experiment to be valid you would have to perform the experiment on several different beaches on several different days at several different times of the day. either that or post a couple of ads on gumtree and see which gets the most hits :)

Yes, you got me. I didn't factor in these variables.
Maybe thats why CSIRO wouldn't fund my research?

I reckon it could be around 8000 -
Aksa has about 1500 members and i think that about 1 in 6 kiters have joined
so 6 x 1500 = 8000

Estimates world wide - 280,000 - based on web searches

So inaccurate Bruce....

Didn't you read the other posts, some dude counted them already, and others are doing the body board / get a root test.

Science always wins.

There are approximately 406 kiters.

I saw about 400 at kitestock and there are 6 of us in Geraldton.
