Has anyone thought about using a vacuum sealed bag you use them to store a lot of clothes in and you suck the air outa the bag! I haven't tried it thou, if it works well it will provide more space in bag even maybe your carry on bag!!
Works well up to a point ;) only problem is some of the bages are not very durable maybe you can get better quality ones if not carry a roll of wide tape they will fix most leaks but and you also need a vaccum cleaner on the other end ;)
Been discussed many times.
Is your travel issue volume or weight. If it's weight like everyone else then you are just carrying more weight by using those vacuum bags
Its out there. Compression bags that work using only ur kite pump. No ecologically disastrous drain on the power grid from the vacuum cleaner in reverse.
We have them on the shelf at Kite Surf SUP.
Agree with the cynics about "no less weight" (derr) but a great way to pack away ur kite/s in your walk-on and still leave room for loads of other stuff.
Regardless of what you use always make sure you have travel insurance. My friends kites were destroyed by Qantas conveyor belts and no payout was issued. As he had no travel insurance it was a very expensive holiday.
I did ask a similar question a while back on some other forum I think. We got a load of them of various sizes (not kite specific), when we moved out here. THey are good in reducing volume.
I was told however to be wary of subjecting a kite to the immense pressures the vacuum could exert on the kite and it's internals etc. Not sure how true this is, but maybe worth baring in mind...
