Just saw a sign outside the the Indigo Cafe in Scarborough: "Australian Kiteboarding, opening soon". --- Perfect location for a kite shop, within walking distance from my house :)
Hope they're going to replace Choice as the new Best dealer in Perth. I'm keen to demo the V2 Kahoona and Taboo 8m
Anyone know who Australian Kiteboarding is?
Many photos of the reno are on AKS' facebook page.
I reckon it's a prime spot for any kind of surf shop, the only challenger nearby is the Surf Boardroom as Murray Smith's surf shop is gone now for the awesome new Rip-Curl store (!!)
^ dude, its a kite shop, not a surf shop.
Why are you talking surf shops all a sudden?
...and if they were the "only challengers", not to mention the other 2/3 surf shops within walking distance, probably wouldnt be such a prime spot would it.
I think Dusta was onto something.
Hi Guys,
I really need to say a BIG THANK YOU, to all the crew who materialized from no where, with no request for help, and worked their afternoon off with me in the shop doing some really crappy jobs.
Kitesurfing and in particular, Pinnacrew, is made up of the most selfless people I have ever met.
Thanks thus far go to Tim for his stable influence in negotiating the lease and sourcing the alarm guy. Dave for advice and assitance with regard to how to fix the shop up and for his loan of tools and professional knowledge in resto work. Todd for throwing down some hard work in all areas today during some testing processes, and also in Pinnaparties. NickT for his electrical assistance and skills in applying paint and several other duties. Chris for sourcing the beers and offering to look after the truck and trailer. Jimmy for his sculpting genius with finishing cement and also delicate brushwork in the cornices.
The AKS team of JP for driving the truck down and setting up, for Mike and Christian for carrying on lessons and doing a fine job in less than perfect conditions. Mike B for his time yesterday looking after the truck, Charl for his assistance and teaching skills.
Must also thank all the people who have offered to help and pitch in to aid in getting things ready in record time, for all those wishing us well and lending some support.
This venture started out being about a shop, but has since become a shining example of friendship, selflessness, giving and having a good time with mates in true Australian fashion. I'm humbled by the experience and will never get across in words my appreciation for the support. Y'all friggen ROCK!
I love this sport and the people it cultivates! Thank You!
Sincerely,
Darren Marshall
Hi e0422713,
We are hoping to have the resto done by Friday and start moving stuff in straight away. My latest challenge is I need to find an alarm installer to fit an alarm by Friday to actually start moving stuff in. Pretty sure insurance needs a monitored alarm system to insure us.
We're walking a fine line re advertising on this thread so check out our brands through our website on the site sponsor link on my avatar.
Thanks for understanding.

Thats great news! I can't wait to see what it looks like completed - the Van looked pimp, how good the shop gonna be!
oh and also a wicked set up Darren has going, popped in after work today to have a quick look and say hi and it was looking a treat! Just fill up the board racks a bit and get the sign up at the front and it will be perfect.
I see you finally got the blower on Darren. Someone asked my for your number a few days ago so I'll post it here. 08 9245 3884
Hey everyone,
Sorry, been a bit busy getting the shop sorted to see this thread had progressed. All is good, progressing nicely!
Thanks for the support everyone. Yes we are open and will have a proper opening party once we get everything sorted.
Cheers,
DM
