Hi guys,
My birthday is coming up and I will be going to Mauritius this year so I'm thinking I might ask a Kite-travel bag.
I'm looking to bring 2 kites and a twintip to Mauritius. I would also like to fit my clothes and stuff in there if possible. Does anyone know of a kitebag that provides these features? If you put 2 kites, a board, a harness and a pump in the bag does it still leave a bit of room for some clothes, or do I really need two separate bags?
Mystic golf bag is great, it will easily fit your kiting gear and some clothes. You are allowed 7 kg of carry on and it is worth getting good carry on bag. The carry on can fit most of your clothes. Air Mauritius are quite good with excess from Aus to Mauritius, they have up until 2012 allowed 23kg plus 7kg carry on, if you still have more stuff you can pay $30 and get a surfboard/ kite bag of another 20kg. Join there kestrel flyer online it's free and gives some good benefits. It is a great destination, great waves, nice people, cheap good food, diving, hiking up LE Morne Brabant and cheap clothing and surf gear. Enjoy![]()
hi,
my favourite is the ION Split bag. It has mighty space and you can put your clothing in the top bag and all kiting gear in bottom. Keeps your clothing away from salt and wet. Its great to have option of one or two luggage pieces too with airline policies.http://intheloopkiteboarding.myshopify.com/collections/board-bags-and-travel-gear/products/ion-splitbag-kite-wheelie
The Golfbags or North Combi and Quiver bags are great as well.
All travel bags will fit what you're planning on taking. 2 kites, a twintip and your accessories. Plus clothing, but put it in your hand luggage if you can to save weight.
Look for a bag with wheels, dark colour (airports are dirty) and has a big zip down the side. Don't get an oversize one, if there's a gap between the end of your board and the handle on the end of the bag, it sags down and the wheels don't work. 140cm bags tend to fit boards up to 142cm very well. Get a white paint pen and write your name on the bag itself....
There's tons available, I like the Dakine SX bag personally because it's so simple and i've used one a lot. Other popular ones are the Cabrinha Golf bags and now the NP Golf's which are the same.
Akwa I have a new Dakine travel bag which I was about to sell
Has wheels and will fit all your gear as well as clothes etc
PM me if interested
I went to Reunion/Mauritius 18 months ago and my advice is to take all your clothes on as carry on. You'll be able to then check in 2 kites and a twin tip plus harness easily.
Realistically, you only need a few shorts and tshirts and one going out set of threads. If you are there to kite then the thing you should be wearing the most is your harness right? The island is on about the same latitude as Northern NSW so even in the winter it's quite warm most days.
I took a Naish Golf bag. No dramas with Air Mauritius or Austral.
