Haha! I learnt on that sucker back in 2000! Scary stuff. Was a steep learning curve.

The marketing spin hasn't changed much in 13 year then!

Everything is still the safest, easiest to use, best upwind etc....

Makes me wonder why sometimes I buy into the company hype when they bang on about specific features of their kites

Ha ha 1999 hey, I was wondering what sort of vintage the sky pirate was.

I just did the L2L on a 7'6" Naish Sky Pirate (with a different set of fins in) it didn't go to bad until I hit a few big clumps of weed a couple of k's from home and lost a heap of spots, ended up coming in 19th with a time of 28:17.

I was able to jump/pop over a few clumps of weed early in the race but towards the end it was getting hard to lift the 7'6" lump of lead weight with my legs burning and on my non prefered tack.
When I hit the big clumps they caused so much drag I just about stopped and had to send the kite to get the thing airborne a few times to clear it.

I can't imagine jumping the beast just for fun.

Still got my 7m AR3.5 in the shed. Lost the bridle though when I put it on 4 line. Pity.

Yep Steve, was a sight to see everyone wanking pumping with those little pumps.

Remember the old bicycle style pumps you use to get with them?

Got an old Cabrinha Co2 2 line somewhere in the back of the shed, 6.6m which is an 8m in today's talk. Used to love the old projected measurement....

The old balloon pumps were a laugh, used to look like a group of perverts bent over w--king on the beach

^I have 2 Cab Co2 2 liners, one in mint condition with bridal and a host of other old junk haha. Just waiting for the day to break it out, I was thinking a video series of Kite Reviews would be good for a laugh.

I've got one of those Naish Sky Pirate boards in my garage if anyone wants to take it off my hands, I'm worried that the sheer weight of it will crack my concrete slab...

I think you will get some takers there, Tightlines or some other crew may want to stock up for the next down wind race, as its similar to what the fastest guys would use.

When I learnt and bought my first kite (shop I wont name), they sold me a 15.5 Cab Blacktip (21m) and said it was good for me learning (50kg or less at the time). They also gave me one of these pumps... I pumped that bad boy up a few times with this thing until I realised I could take a big camping mattress pump to the beach. What were these clowns thinking...

Those little pumps would actually be useful for the crew doing kite camping trips.
I can't believe you all had such big kites back then my 5m wipica classic used to smash me when it got over 19.5 kn

The kite bag folded into a bum bag that you could put the little pump in. Perfect for downwinders, and that was the only direction you could go with those things.

come to think of it how big were your bars for the big 2 liners my 5m bar was 70 or 80 cm long with shoelaces for lines

Got a 9m R3 in the shed, 2 line beast, have been unable to find a AR3.5 for some time.
Need to take it out for a spin soon.
Looking for an old Sky Pirate if anyone has one....
