Talked to organisers anyone interested come along - the day more about fun and having a go at race style kiting. You can race for fun or be more serious if you like. See you there.

P.S They have demo race boards on day - just bring your own kites, you can also use twin tips or surfboards.

2011/12 WAKSA - Airush Course Racing Series

This year, we are very excited to announce the 2011/12 WAKSA-Airush Course Racing Series which commences Sunday 23rd October at Melville beach.
Six events are planned over the season with the best four results culminating in the series placing. Whilst we expect some seriously competitive racing, the events are also designed to encourage new-comers and novice racers to the discipline.
With this in mind, Airush is providing a number of course racing boards to be used, free of charge for each of the six racing events - there is a limited number of boards, so it will be 'first come, first served'. A number of experienced course racers will also be on hand to provide tips and advice to kiters new to the discipline.
WAKSA greatly appreciates the support provided by Airush for this exciting development.
The 2011/12 WAKSA - Airush Course Racing Series will be held at the following locations
Melville Beach - Sunday 23rd Oct & Sunday 13th Nov
Leighton Beach - Sunday 4th Nov & Sunday 5th February
Safety Bay Yacht Club - Sunday 15th January & Sunday 4th March
Pre-start briefings will be held at 1.00pm on racing day, with the earliest race commencing at 1.45pm. A minimum of 3 races will be held (wind permitting). Overall series placings will be determined from the best 4 days results - less than 4 days participation = no placing in the series.
Categories will include: dedicated course boards; free race boards; and all others. Categories will race together, but results will be separated according to category.
All participants must be WAKSA members and results will be made available in the week following the race. Memberships will not be taken on the day.

I've got a problem with "Leighton Beach Sunday 4th Nov". 4th works out to be a Friday on my 2011 calendar.

Bump

I'm just putting the last boards together now

Does anyone know how much G10 fin there is on 6 Sector 60 One Design boards.... Its a shed load!! i don't think i have ever seen so much G10 in one place at one time...I'll try and post a photo later on today when i finish and get all of the boards on the rack.

As WAKSA has posted above we are putting up 6 One Design boards for the Airush Race Series and these boards will be stored at Airborne Kitesurfing during the season and are available for people to demo on race days or during the week if you come into the shop and see us.

Course racing is by far the fastest growing side to our sport at the moment!
Come down on Sunday try something new and find out what all the buzz is about

Nice sequence shots Schmidy!! You make it look so easy! Must be learned to win races though.

We got stumped for wind in Sydney yesterday, had a bit of a wind line come through, I tested it on the 17M Edge and giant Underground Stella, was plenty so we put the buoys out and then of course thw wind dropped to sub 10 knots and stayed that way.
I'll start another thread with a few pics and a bit more detail.
