Hi All,

I have a problem that sometimes after I crash my kite it flips over and the steering lines are then inside of the leading edge lines making the kite impossible to fly.

I have been self rescuing and rerigging my kite on the beach. Is the an easier way to correct this whilst out on the water??

Any help much appreciated

Gav

If you had front lines that were split all the way down to the depower strap and you were an advanced rider you could pass the bar through the middle of the lines and your problem would be solved. But seeing as though you have a Crapinha (judging by your pic) you can't do this and if you have IDS (intelligent dangle system) it will make it even harder.

My kite normally flies ok to get me back to the beach. Make sure your leading edge is pumped up firm enough - will help reduce inversions. I've tried to evert the kite the opposite way to how it went inverted, but never succeeded yet!

TIP: Keep your centre lines attached, and your lines laid straight out on the beach in the downwind position, ready to self-launch. Make sure your bar is wrong way up. Just disconnect the side lines and thread around the centre lines. If unsure, get someone to show ya.

^^^ You don't need to undo your lines even if your flying a crabrinha... Just pass the bar the right way (which ever way it rolled) between your centre lines and it will untwist.

If your kite flips over when you crash this usually means your lines have gone slack giving the kite a chance turn over. This often happens if you crash when your kite is quite high. Keep you kite lower. If it's the result of a jump gone wrong it probably means you tried to jump without enough edging and you've gotten under your kite and it Hundenburgs falling close to you.

Don't worry, you'll get through this stage with practice.

Also, you can still fly the kite even if the lines are crossed after the kite rolling over. If you can get it into the air fly back to the beach and sort out the mess.

Flips over, did you mean inverting?
If it is the case just pull the safety and the kite will re-invert in it's normal position, then slowly pull the safety line, hook back and slowly let safety line go,kite will be powered again and ready for relaunch.
Good luck.

I think he's doing that, it's just the lines he was trying to sort out.

the only thing i can add is when your kite drops hits the water and it looks like it will invert or not relaunch pull the chicken loop out before it inverts grab a breather and reconnect and relaunch kite. or get back to shore and relaunch. this is the only thing i hate about 5 line kites.

but you can still fly them. go back to shore disconnect twisted line and relaunch

I dont think anyone can give you any stick for flying a Naish at the moment having won the world championship.
