Heard a rumour about sea rescue having to go and collect someone off Hedland.

Can anyone confirm it and was he/she ok?

Cheers.

Someone phoned 000 to say a kite surfer was seen heading out to sea. The caller also stated he had witnessed the kitesurfer hanging below his kite but not on the water for a long time. I personally spoke to the guy who called 000 he was a kitesurfer who had been kiting earlier and had raised the alarm. Seemed very genuine.

At the time we had a very large tide and it was heading out. A pilot boat with me and 4 others on it was launched and a chopper was in the air for 5min before the light beat us all.

This was Sunday, as of today no one has been reported missing.

I have been here for 2 weeks and 2 really good days for kiting but i was working for both of them.

Talking to the local boaties when the tide changes a current of 15kts can be experienced, If the wind isn't strong enough you can see where the problem can arise.
