My local fisherman mate in town is predicting strong Sth Westers from early morning right thru Kitestock weekend.
These guys are probably at least as good as long term forecasts.
Fishermen grumping = Kiters frothing.
Could just be the best wind weekend ever.
We may just have some shared accomodation available in Denison.
If you are interested in the comfort of a real house give us a call - 0430 966 397
Guys, if decent wind is predicted make sure you come equipped with some small kited as this season's winds have been intense, with most days 25 to 30+,we've rarely had a nice 20knts, its either been cranking or none existing, wouldn't trust the charts as they've been way off, fingers crossed for a great windy weekend
WISH i was going this year ,,, -- Last year even though there was only 1 day of wind I had an awesome week in Dongara... the parties and people were 'ALLTIME'..
Hope you all score wind this year !! :)
Kitestock 2012 was held on the Aus Day public holiday weekend....we had a combination of offshore winds; and then no wind; bushfires that closed roads hundreds of k's downwind making it almost impossible for punters to get to Dongara...after suffering no wind for KS 2011, it was almost a conspiracy a second year in a row.
I was in Dongara over the Aus Day long weekend this year, and guess what? Sensational, 20-25knots, S/SW for two days....same weekend a year apart - you'd never have believed it was possible last year.
This is the forecast for the next couple of days (courtesy of BoM)
Friday 8 February
Strong wind warning for Friday for Geraldton Coast
Winds Southeasterly 25 to 30 knots turning southerly in the morning.
Seas 2 to 3 metres, decreasing below 1.5 metres during the morning, then increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres around midday.
Swell Southwesterly 1.5 to 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres around dawn.
Saturday 9 February
Winds South to southeasterly 20 to 30 knots decreasing to 15 to 25 knots early in the morning.
Seas 1.5 to 2.5 metres, decreasing below 1.5 metres during the morning.
Swell South to southwesterly 2.5 to 3 metres, increasing to 3 to 4 metres around dawn.
It's looking like we're getting back to what KS is all about: bring your small kites....
KS 2013....with wind - like Big Kev used to say, I'm excited....

It's ok east coaster - we will certainly recognise you.![]()
Looking forward to the annual catch - up with the kiting community.
Just checked the Kitestock registration page, the prices has just gone up 20% but the number don't look that great this year. When is the closing date as I can't fins it anywhere?
Is everyone holding out for the forecast to improve? I am!
Cheers
