Has anybody tried kiting in Hua Hin in Thailand. I'm pretty new and was thinking of going there next week. get some lessons and stay a week. Hows the wind about now and any recommendations for accomodation.![]()
Watch out for jellyfish!
The beach at Hua Hin is often covered (literally) in jellyfish at this time of year. A few years back, I saw kiters check themselves into hospital for treatment on a couple occasions. People were turning up for lessons in long pants, socks, shirts and even balaclavas. One guy even wore dishwashing gloves!
Hua Hin is not the typical set up you imagine for a "Thai holiday". The wind is reasonably consistent, but rarely over 16kts. The beach itself is pretty ordinary. brown sand, browner water and not a coconut tree in sight...
I would suggest you leave the kites at home and go to a nicer part of Thailand for a holiday.
wow that's a pretty poor picture you've painted!
PKRA kicks off in Hua Hin tomorrow - here's some clips from last year's
I'm here now, in Hua Hin, it's pretty sick! Got no idea what the wind is like and I didn't bring my gear
