Howdy,
Going to South America early Jan, specifically Argentina, Chile and Brazil. Thanks to the wonder that is TheWindMap.com, I can see there are plenty of locations for Kitesurfing.
I'll need to hire my gear there, as I don't fancy lugging my prize gear around with me. Can anyone recommend a kitesurfing hire shop where I'm not going to get ripped off, or whatever?
Also, I'm pretty new to it all (In my world 15knotts is pushing it ;-) ) so if you've any ideal places for beginners, would be very keen to hear that.

As you may already know Brazil has the same summer months as OZ, from what I know the best winds will be in the south of brazil in Jan, as the north will be in the wet season....but you may need to do some more research on my basic info.
I went down to Florianopolis during march and the surf was really good, beaches were amazing, kinda like the byron bay. They had a arvo NE seabreeze and water temps very similar to Mid north coast NSW.
Dont worry if u can only kite in 15 Knots, just use a smaller kite for higher winds.

Florianopolis was the best place i went too in Brazil, I never got time to go North of RIO which from reports has some of the best kiting in the world but I'm pretty sure that would be during the dry season in winter. Also during summer in Brazil it can piss with rain at any point of time, also be pre warned, beer and seafood is cheap and awesome. Crime is every where. I lived there for a year and traveled quite bit, it can be heavy and you might see some bad road accidents etc...but most Brazilians are cool people and will help you out as best they can.
