Have three young children, my wife and I are beginners kitesurfer, any suggestion for July school holidays? Readings previous posts seems that Fiji is not as good as I thought.
Check out Mauritius - there is a great waist deep lagoon with a big sandy bay downwind. There are a few kite schools operating there. Also the group tours we do have boat support so as you progress we can take you upwind in the lagoon so you can kite back downwind. We do this from the beaches too - drive upwind and kite back to the beginner bay.
As far as children - we have had a couple of families before and they loved it. not sure what age your kids are but the villas we have would be suitable for children. If your interested, PM me and I could discuss it with you as there are also options to stay in a resort with kids clubs and the like.

Fiji is terrific - you just need to book with the operator that is set up for Kitesurfing and not try to do your own thing at a hotel that is designed for tourists and have no kiting infrastructure!
Go to a Kite specific Resort where they have included baby sitting for children - the owners have children and the owners kite - then you will have exactly what you after.
I just happen to know one such resort. PM me if you would like more information. i have been here 21 years and it is amazing!

PNG boat cruise.
Luxury, all inclusive and lots to do for wife and kids away from kiting- diving, villages, snorkel..
Thanks for the great options! A child minding service is a must as the kids are 5 and under. I'm in Melbourne. Would like to also consider destinations in Australia too, further suggestions greatly appreciated
Hey Payaso. Spanish for Clown?
My partner and I are in exactly the same predicament - looking for a suitable kiting resort that has a kids club or suitable baby sitting for our 3yo. There is definetely a market for this! You hear me tourist operators!?
If you find something, please let me now? We plan to go in June this year, but it seems we are stuck for choice - Aussie destination (Cairns, Byron) or Sri Lanka, Fiji or Vanuatu.
At this stage Yorkies seems to be the go, as we have family near by for baby sitting, but seriously we want to get away from the relos. :)
Cheers
Why not consider Lord Howe Island! Great spot for kids. Just been nominated for best family location. Gourmet Traveller!

I expect the price to drop further with the winter airfare specials in soon.
Thanks all for the comments. After searching the net for a few hours, with my wife we haven't reached a conclusion yet. We used to live in kite beach, DR, life was much easier over there!!!!
Payaso,
When there is no wind at Yorkeys head up to Cooktown. We have 2 kids under 5 and use 2 great beaches with no-one around. A small but friendly kitesurfing community and always 5 - 10knots windier than yorkeys.
Will need 4wd and can stay in Cooktown or camp at the kiting locations.
Everyone else put their 2 cents in so I will too.
Cocos Islands is in Australia, kid friendly and perfect to learn to kite.
We can look into organising a beach Nanny for kids daily no probs.
Kite Centre opens on the 7th of July.
Check it out at www.cocoskite.com
I've gotta chime in here as I'm looking for this too!
I'm looking for a family holiday destination, I have 2 kids, both aged 12, and am looking for a club-med style setup, so wife and kids can have plenty to do during the windy days while I go off and kiting and/or get tuition. Any other suggestions?
I would love Malaysia, Indonesia....destinations (I'm in Perth).
Hi Ive been to safari lodge in Fiji for several years now, my son whos now 12 was 9 first time always has fun .And the babysitting there is great and cheap so im happy to recomend it if you have any questions email or ring me
Have fun

Hi Jim Jones, from the west coast Cocos is a good option too. Lots to do as long as your wife doesn't need to shop too much. If relaxation & water activities is the go, then either Zephr tours at Cocos (it is closer for you) or Fiji Safari Lodge.
So many spots all around Australia that are really cool & worth checking out if you can, but internationally the choice in mind blowing!!!
Kitelife's been to Cook Islands & Philippines and both were great spots here's a link to those clips...
