I'm after some local tips on the wind conditions and best locations to kite surf around cairns in June - July? Need a break from the cold and hoping to find some warmth and wind up north. Does the trade wind pick up during the winter months up that way? IF so, how strong, when and where best to kite? any advice or tips - much appreciated crew.

Cheers

trade winds blow in nq from april till end of year.
mostly anything between 15-30knts. if you go offshore they are stronger.
there is heaps of good spots in NQ just talk to locals when you on the beach or drive up and down the coast to check them out..

have fun

Check out www.australiankitesurfari.com.au
This tour is as close as it comes to guaranteed wind and June/July is peak season up here. Tip for Kitesurfari = small kite and take a fishing rod.
If you don't want to travel, any beach around Cairns has the potential to go off at that time of year. Port Douglass is often more consistent if the wind is tending SSE and is only 45 minutes drive north (well worth the effort). Enjoy.
